I would like to apologize to both YouFearGalvatron and Counterpunch. After getting away from the thread for awhile, and rereading it I was wrong for my remarks. I think I read more into the posta then what was really there. Damolisher you were right as well. I felt since I admonished you both publically and I try to be fair you both deserve a public apology. Again, I am very sorry.

Pshaw, no worries.
You're the chosen one. I am very clearly a douchebag. I am giving up my 5th Amendment Rights and admitting it.
Besides, you won't really make any mistakes until you become Rodimus Prime.

ahh, mr. CP, your dry and witty remarks never cease to fascinate me.
moving on, aside from the aforementioned "megatron/ratchet hybrid: bugliest unproduced toy" theory, i vote for pretender classics as some of the ugliest/freakiest toys ever produced, aside from BW (which are naturally ugly but infinitely playable, i.e. they may be ugly but i like them).

somehing like RID bruticus is quite ugly. Gen 1 megs, well its an odd looking robot for sure but as its constrained by having a real gun as its alt mode some compromises were made (the other takara microman gun robo, eg the magnum are probably more successful at not looking too odd), that being said i feel that the robot mode is charming and is amongst my favourite toys designs ever! When non tf fans see my collection its interesting that the toys that they seem most impressed with are g1 megs and g1 triple changers!!

Most of the Beast Machines toys were terrible (the Maximals, anyway.) Why were they in psycadelic colours for?
OH, and the Pretenders were a terrible idea, and badly executed.

How about anything G1? Nothing in G1 looks great. None of them look as good as the cartoons they represent. And the posability is horrendous. I love the G1 cartoon but the toys are some of the worst. I know it was technologies fault but jeez.....Now the classics line. Thats G1 done right!

Anyway on a more serious note How about G1 Galvatron. I never had him as a kid but in 2002 a friend who was working for goodwill picked him up for me. I let him keep it. absoloutly horrid, and it aggravates me that they still to this day have not made a good Galvatron toy. There was rumor that he would appear in the classics line, but yet he still hasn't appeared.
I'd like to see a masterpiece Galvatron. Anyway heres G1 Galvatron for you:
What is that a crown on his head? geez
Yeah that has got to be on of the ugliest creations of G1 ever! What is he a medival king robot? Stupid crown. Crappy colors.

Would once again like to point out that untill season 3 the TF toys were made before the animation, when then the designs were mostly adjusted to fit in with traditional Japanese super-robot designs, such as the RX-78 Gundam (the original). So of course they are not going to look better than the cartoon, because the cartoon was made to look better than the toys.Toyotus Superion wrote:How about anything G1? Nothing in G1 looks great. I would also like to add that yeah, at the time the idea was for real-world objects to turn into robots, hence why it seems like the robots were afterthoughts....they actually were.
Anyway, my vote is for Energon Jetfire Not only is his robot chubby & misproportioned with the fugliest Jetfire head this side of the original(sorry Jetfire fans, I liked Skyfire better), but his alt mode looks like a cross between a space shuttle & a turtle.
& just for the record, this is not because I don't like Jetfire alltogether. Classics Jetfire is one of my favorite toys.

Yeah that jetfire is an ugly fat ass. The cybertron one is nice as a military cargo jet though. I still think G1 toys look like crap. It's the vintage factor that makes us want them. Because its what most of us had as kids.

I actually like a lot of them because of the various gimmicks. Some of them were pretty spiffy. I particularly liked the master toys(head/target/power) because of the idea of them having partner robots. It was like getting 2 toys in 1....not so much like Armada, though....(car TF with engine buddy sitting on the hood vs car/robot with mini car sitting on his spoiler). Also there was the duocons...sure they were bricks, but sitting a helicopter onto a jeep causing a spring-loaded transformation that merges the 2 into a robot...that's a fun toy I can sit there & mess with for hours. & I can't say I got it for the "vintage" of it, because I never had one when I was little...just sounded like a couple of neat TFs.Toyotus Superion wrote:Yeah that jetfire is an ugly fat ass. I like the G1 transformers, but it's probably because I had a few of them when I was a kid and my dad always picked them up for me at gas stations. I blame nostalgia
I also like most of the movie TFs. My vote for the ugliest, though? Movie Dreadwing. Man, I wouldn't spend 50 cents on that piece of garbage. (okay, maybe 50 cents, or 2 bucks, or...yeah, I'm a toy addict)

Please see my posts on page 5 for a response to that comment.
FYI: I wish today's toys had the awesome alt modes given to us in G1, series 1 and 2. Best alt modes, PERIOD.

Well, at least he looks excellent as a jet? He just has retarded feet. Im not too fond of the one eyed face, but i'm picky in regards to trans faces.

Thats gotta be one of the uglies things I've ever seen. But what is it a scout class? USUALLY the small the transformer the uglier the transformation. But there are exceptions lol. And whats with that damn crown on his head?!

he dosen't look so bad if you look at the character in the proper perspective: he's a drone, just like all the others from the TF game. Meant to serve no other purpose than to be cannon fodder...er...debris fodder, actually, since your guns rarely work on other robots. Hence why he only has a digital camera lens for a face.there_is_a_martens wrote:Toyotus Superion wrote:there_is_a_martens wrote:I like the G1 transformers, but it's probably because I had a few of them when I was a kid and my dad always picked them up for me at gas stations. Beast Machines Silverbolt
At least Wheelie was a pretty lame character to begin with.
I repainted my Beast Machines Silverbolt (show accurate colors) and it looks quite nice. I do not have a picture but I will post one when I can.

Oh and the correct spelling is ugliest, not uglyest.
I can't believe this wasn't the first response.
For me, it's G1 Wheelie. That figure blew...
