I just want to state first (and I know there are those who agree) off that IMHO Cybertron Galvatron is and will always will be Megatron for obvious reasons. Second if this thread has been done recently then please by all means "Powers that be" close it. And finally I'm not really looking for your fav Megs of the 4 lines just your verdict. But I think that is something that just can't be avoided so there it is I guess.

So of the 4 series I think without doubt Cybertron Megatron is the best. His bot mode is what sets him over all the others. I think the fact that RID Megs had a great chance to be the victor being a multi-changer TF but screwed that up...way to go Hasbro! His worst mode was that hand or claw crap, I mean c'mon serisously what a joke. If they wanted to make fans laugh they should have made him change into a boot! And his jet mode was too organic I think.

Energon just didn't work with his paint apps but was just top shelf with Galvatron...way to go Hasbro! I seriously think Hasbro got inspiration for crapformer Crankcase from guess who...yup Armada Megatron and you know why. But hey that's just my 2 cents with no sense.

So fans there it is, Cybertron Megs reigns supreme but he does have his share of flaws but I choose not to get into those I'll leave that to you all...'nuff said!

I have Cybertron Megatron and I couldn't disagree with you more. Absolutely nothing of the guy says Megatron to me, and come on, he's a car? Sure he's got a jet mode too, but not a very good one IMO. And the colors. UGH. The Galvy recolor looks better, but I don't have that one, and you asked about Megs.

I like Energon Megs best. The homage to Galvy in robot mode makes me very happy. His jet mode is a lot better than Cyberton Megs's jet mode, and it was quite interesting how he game with a non-transforming smaller version of his previous Armada tank mode as a weapon. About the only way he could've been cooler is if he'd had orange canons like his puple Galvatron redeco.

RID was cool, at least in a few modes (two headed dragon, sweet) but didn't really say "Megatron" to me. Armada was a nice return to tank Megatron, but I didn't really care for his "antlers" in robot mode.

In all honesty, I don't count RiD Megatron as a proper "Megatron" since he's another "run-of-the-mill" Decepticon/Predacon warlord from the likes of Deszaras in Japan.

I have all three molds (A-Galvatron, Toys 'R Us E-Megatron or SL Galvatron, and GF Master Galvatron, and I want all opposite colors ^^; ). Cybertron Galvatron wins out in the detail aspect and colors. The robot mode isn't too stable however and the two vehicle modes don't scream "Megatron". E-Megatron is the perfect Galvatron incarnation mold wise (except the teeth in the horns, harking back to his Armada form), especially the purple version which I so desperately want! Armada Megatron just screams brute power, and... yeah... nothing else to say

I don't know about Megatron, but I got E Galvatron and SL Galvatron to be (guess who?) Galvatron. For a long, long time at least. If I had the room I'd pair E Galvy with MP Roddy.

Anyway, yeah Armada Megs is just an awesome looking H-Tank with lots of minicon ports and gimmickry out the wazoo. Yes he's a little limited in poseability but he's pretty awesome, and totally embodies the evil that is Megatron.

For the record I love Car Robots Gigatron as a toy. He's just awesome looking. He's just not Megatron.

What's not to get? The overall design of that figure just screams Galvatron. With the pointy crown, the square abs, the translucent cannons etc.. Its just a big bad Galvatron Homage. The Purple version even more so.

I'm going to go with Cybertron Galvatron, being the only one I own since he's the only one that actually resembles Megatron. Other than the painfully small gun, he's pretty cool-looking, and while his alt modes aren't exactly Megatronish, they're cool anyway. He's also well-articulated, if not balanced, and I guess just a pretty cool anime-ish take on our favorite villain.

I do also own Energon Galvatron, but he's just Galvatron. Same mold as Megatron of course. I rate it less because the articulation isn't as good and the wing kibble gets in the way more.

I totally agree Kirbenvost and that makes sense. I think though there is a bit of confusion somewhere and I think I might add to the confusion. E Megatron was lame with his paint apps and E Galvatron was perfect with his paint apps.
Most people consider reversing names for Cybertron Megs and Cybertron Galvatron which makes sense to me...Cybertron Galvatron screams Megatron to me.

But keep in mind we are talking about Megatron mostly, from the posted series above despite the Beast Wars comment.

I sort of lean towards Galaxyforce Megatron (unpainted nose not withstanding) but Micron Legend Megatron looks kick @ss with Tidalwave.

RID...I see him as Gigatron. I saw CarRobots before I saw RID, so he is Gigatron.

Armada/Micron Legend, I never owned, instead I have the OFTCC MegaZarak. Better colors than either version of Armada/ML hands down, and the most menacing looking. Just check the gallery here.

I still have E-Megatron for the sheer size. I will get SL Galvatron G at a later date as he is increasingly rare these days. I do like him as a toy be he screams Galvatron for the head alone.

Now Cybertron Meagatron I still keep. I did own Cyb Galvatron for a little while but I decided to trade for Cyb Megatron. The colors were uniform and screamed G1. However I got bored and I just wanted something different. He's big and the odd colors reminded me of Masterforce. Cyb Megatron is my pseudo Overlord.

I haven't opened Cybertron Megatron yet, I'm waiting until I'm watching the Cybertron series which will be quite soon as I'm nearing finishing Energon.

Of the other three I like RiD best as he's poseable and I like the batman aesthetic. I think the bot, jet, car, bat and two headed dragon are great.

Armada: brick.

Energon: underwhelming and bricky. A fair amount of articulation but he isn't poseable as he'll just fall over.

As for the actual characters: in Armada all Megatron does is hold Prime's hands when they meet. In Energon he's all laughter and smack talk but the only bots he ever beats up are Decepticons.

Armada Megatron wins in nearly all regards.

The toy has a wonderful stature. It's bulky, but movable (though the lack of swinging leg movement is a tragedy). He has nicely integrated gimmicks. He looks like some kind of evil samurai. Also, as was stated before, he can shank people. That's a gimmick he has.

Shanking action...

In the shows, he's the only Megatron that represents the Decepticon "ideals". He makes his last decision in the interest of all Transformers. In the comics, he's so rage-inducingly brutal that he guts G1 Galvatron while making fun of him.

Plus, he's a collector, like us.

Wait so you guys are discussing which megs is the best stand in for G1megs? Id say none of them. Rid megs is an awesome toy, but not megs. Energon looks more like thunderwing or galvy depending on paint scheme, and cybertron although having the squarer body shape has devil horns and that teeny gun. The horns are cool but no self respecting megatron would leave out a trusty bfg. Just grab yourself united megs and be done with it

As for the breakdowns of all of them:

RID - Will always be Gigatron to me as well, but his hand mode is beyond supercool. To this day a figure I regret not having.

Armada - Bought on sight back in the day because he was a tank, he was loaded with gimmickry (which I think makes up for his overall lack of articulation) he had another Decepticon to put on as armour (Prime ain't the only one!) and featured a pop out prison shank of a knife. He is refined badassery, and I'd love to see him "Classic'd" like Hot Shot was in Universe (at least at voyager scale, bigger if possible).

Energon - I saw one once in stores... I really wanted the Galvatron repaint, but in the end, I got neither, and didn't really mind.

Cybertron - This is one I have honestly never seen up close, but always wanted for the Batmobile-ish car mode. Granted I would prefer him in his Galvatron paintscheme, but the mold itself seemed pretty epic.

Overall winner for me has gotta go to Armada for sheer playability, evil looks, and stab-factor.

I was torn between Armada and RiD, but I think you tipped it for me. You had to go bringing up how awesome he was in the comics and show, didn't you??

I was torn between Armada and RiD, but I think you tipped it for me. You had to go bringing up how awesome he was in the comics and show, didn't you??

I think comic Armada Megatron might have the juice to take down any other Megatron. He's not the most powerful outright nor is he the most brilliant, but he has that heroic determination that refuses to allow him to die.

Gotta love that battle. Figueroa killed it. Whoever did the coloring was exceptional, too.

Worlds Collide was the single best Transformers comic Dreamwave put out. That whole thing just felt... epic, for lack of a better word. It reminded me a lot of Furman's old UK time travel stuff.

Cybertron Galvatron aka the real Megatron didn't have to be a triple changer to be great he already acheived that apart from the other 3 Megs. Yeah I did mention he does have flaws and one is that not so great jet mode. He can be a bit top heavy but I get him with some great stance's. His gun should have been a lot bigger something like a cannon.

But despite his flaws Cybertron's bold looks alone make him the victor. The only thing that comes close just for the hell of it which I would love to own is Shattered Glass Megatron!

I really don't like any of them, i'd prefer IDW's War Within series Megatron as toy and character.

But if i have to absolutely......... choose one of them = then i´d go with
Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron But i still prefer War Within series Megatron as the deputy for G1 Megs.

Armada Megatron is very menacing and badass.
