yeah i agree, at least the little packs of smaller G-1 figures that came from takara were cool, and moved slightly, ofcourse you had to put them together and weren't entirely sure they would be prepainted.. but oh well..
HASBRO: If anyone from your toy company browses this forum, please pay attention to this...
Your unleashed toyline, is great in idea, but in final product, it becomes lacking, as with previous posts above I had the same problems with your Unleashed figures, they looked cool, but their poses were never quite right, and the sculpts were great, but the whole clearish plastic effects were just too much and really made the statues look cheap. That's mainly why most Star Wars fans liked the Unleashed but really wanted Kotobukiya. The Kotobukiya statues, though expensive, had a more realistic approach to the figures, and no corny, hokey special effects that detracted from the figures themselves.
The Bumblebee figure that is being released is a god start, except the pose of the figure is really difficult to showcase his cool robot form. the head is nestled between the forearm and the shoulder, and is hard to see, placing him out for display would mean turning him to the far right, and not being able to see the main body, so what's the point of having that great sculpt if its hidden all the time on display.. it just doesn't hit the mark. Which has seemed to be a running theme with the Unleashed line... the sculpts are detailed and look great, except the positions and gimmics really detract, and make the figures look aweful..
My advice, get new sculpters, and no gimmicks (clearish laser and fire attachments)..or get the sculpters to make the statues in a badass pose like the Kotobukiya line, action poses are over rated, especially when the figure or final product looks odd. It also would make a great option to include, limited posability, like for instance if the Bumblebee Unleashed figure is unacceptable to a fan, they could reposition his head, move the arm down a little, or elbow back some, and even replace the head with that of the "Battle mode" version. Now that would be a colossal Unleashed figure that I would buy 2 of!!!
