And of course, I lost...
Nice grab!

Actually, there was only one bid on the aution I got him from and it was mine. Looks like there was another of these on ebay recently. Sorry you lost out.
I thought about telling everybody here about the auction but if I did I probably wouldn't have got him. Like Elvis said "Only fools rush in".Liege Evilmus wrote:Now as for blu-tac, does it leave a residue on the figure? I would have prefered to use a band but I didn't have any. Blu-tack is ok as long as you don't use a lot and change it every so often.

Back when we were talking about this during the summer, two auctions popped up for them from reliable overseas sellers. Both got to over $400, so I let him go.If he were a bit less fragile I'd consider it.

Anyways, that Magnus of yours does look really good. I've never noticed that head/chest gimmick before but thats really cool. Works on the G1 version too.
Trikeboy wrote:Hi,
I posted last month that I won an auction for a WST Ultra Magnus with trailer. I got him today and it is great. Here is a short review and some pictures at the end.
This guy comes in a simple box but still looks amazing. The Ultra Magnus toy can be seen through a display window on the front. The toy itself is a faithful reproduction of the G1 toy and transforms just like the original. Also included is a decent instrution sheet that is (in my opinion) better than the ones that come with the movie toys.
The cab that comes with the toy is a new mold but doesn't fully transform into robot mode. The legs flip down but the feet don't move, there aren't any arms and the head is simply a small cube that flips up similar to the head design from G1 Optims Prime and G1 Ultra Magnus. The head fits snuggly over and stays in place well.
The cab fits well into the trailer section. The upper thigh part of the trailer bends slightly inwards and holds the cab in place. The chest piece combines with the head to form the little starfighter. It also slips into a groove on the trailer which holds it pretty well but is loose and comes out easily. This comes to the only problem. It is obvious they people who made this only had one day.
The plastic is good but he is pretty flimsy. The arms in robot mode do not stick in place. I had to use blu-tack to get them to stay in place. In addition to the arms the ramps, which become the white part of the legs, easily flip down. I used blu-tack to keep them in place. One last problem is the small white tabs on the legs that are supposed to keep the arms up when in vehicle mode. They are in grooves but they are not closed grooves which mean that they can simply fall out of the toy. I get the impression that it could have been much better if Takara gave the makers more time to produce him.
In spite of the bad points, the toy looks fantastic in robot mode and pretty good in vehicle mode. It cost me a bit but I think it was worth it.
Good points
Looks fantastic.
Faithful reproduction of the original G1 toy.
Transforms just like the original G1 toy.
Head gimmick still works.
The gun can be used by the official WST Ultra Magnus.
In scale with other WST transformers
Bad points
Some parts don't stay in place and can fall off.
Feels very flimsy.
Here is a link to some photo's I have taken of the toy.

Sorry that I don't have any photos of him with a G1 Ultra Magnus but I don't have one just now. The Kabaya models shown came from
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Black-Gaines-Toy-Store. It's great that the Kayaba Powermaster Prime is the same size a Ultra Magnus.
So, if you see one of these available to buy, you wont be disappointed.
