Sorry if I seemed like I was playing mod, by the way... After the fact, I worried that my post asking you to fix your post might come off that way, and it was not my intent.

Nice pics, by the way. The comparison pics with the G1 figure just reminded me about my one big complaint with the new Trailbreaker/Hoist mold... I really wish they hadn't just left the behind-the-head thingy exposed in vehicle mode (although for Hoist's tow truck, I suppose it works as a light bar) and that the twin guns on Trailbreaker's bed canopy likewise folded away for vehicle mode. They don't detract to the point where I can't live with it, but it really spoils any chances of the vehicle mode having a clean look.

All good, I just read it as you letting me know it was in need of fixing.

That does stand out a little, but most of the time I don't notice it myself. Might change once I finally get Trailbreaker in hand (PoL will be shipping soon).

Did you take some offence? If so, none was meant. But yes, for me at least, this was the first time that it was obvious. Past pics were all of grey prototypes or just had tiny images of the alt mode, or usually seemed to be of angles that slightly better hid the spatial relationship of the crane arm to the center of the vehicle. Looking at some of the past pics again now, knowing what I now know, it is a bit more obvious. But these most recent pics are the first ones where the issue jumped right out at me and made itself known.

And since I was the second person to comment on it, while Agamemnon can correct me if I am mistaken, I suspect I am not alone in this.

I had wondered vaguely why so many of Hoist's vehicle mode pics had the crane arm folded up and tucked away... Almost like they didn't want us to notice it. If I was a cynical person, I would suspect that they didn't want us to notice it was off center until we'd gotten invested in wanting it too much to cancel our preorders...

I will admit, this is actually almost a deal breaker for me. My last minor complaint that I couldn't use Trailbreakercutter's backpack extension without sacrificing his added handgun was just that, a minor complaint, and I was willing to overlook it. But this revelation adds a major compromise to Hoist's vehicle mode. Was there no way they could design this thing with something as basic as a centered hole? Seems a rather obvious design flaw.

Yeah, the previous pics didn't really make it clear how far off center the tow arm is. I first suspected during one of the review videos. But I believe Arctorro's pics are the first from directly behind to show just how far off center the arm really is.

Since Hoist will almost always be displayed in bot mode, I'm not terribly concerned. I just wish with all the work put in that they would have found a way to center the tow arm...

This is pretty lame. It's a set that helps Hoist's robot mode, but not so much in vehicle mode. I'd rather they have the gun hand (if that's what it is) hanging off of the back; Hoist can't even function as a tow truck with his arm off to the side like that.

Well ... I guess I'll still get it. Since he'll be in bot mode most of the time. But it's still a pretty big flaw for vehicle mode and there's not a good justification for it.

There are a lot of little flaws in this set.

I kind of wish another group was putting out an upgrade kit to compete with this.

Based on what I saw in the one video review, there's a hole in the figure that the add-on goes into and a hole in the add-on that the arm goes into. I just looked at my fig, and the only alternative I see is plugging the arm into the supercharger blower/forcefield projector thingy. However, there isn't room on the bottom side to do this, and the blower would have to be pointed straight up for the arm to look decent coming out the back.

I'll try to take some pics if the set comes in this week or next. Describing what I am talking about probably is not working so well...

I was tempted to pass on this myself after seeing those images, but the bot mode just looks to damn good. If I knew another group was doing their own version then I'd wait and see, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

I will wait because I'm awaiting a Takara set anyway, so if another company comes along and does a superior set, that's the one I'll be going with.
