'08 Bumblebee Transformation help

I was looking over the toy galleries and noticed that the '08 Bumblebee's shoulders are extender farther out than what is shown on the Hasbro site. Do you have to pull the shoulders out during the transformation? Or is this just done for better poseability? Any help would be much appreciated.

If you have a pic showing what you mean these types of questions are more easily answered.

That being said, the shoulders have to be pulled out laterally, then slightly externally rotated in order to clear the chest piece during automorph, otherwise they may physically obstruct the chest as it's going down and over BB's head.

So then this is correct? The shoulders must be pulled out like this:

P.S. Thanks for the tip on posting Boncrusher27

Looks like the pics in Seibertron's gallery are the way that I have it done. Had to pull them out to get them out of the way, as was said.

I know exactly what you mean! I haven't been this careful and gentle with anything, let alone toys, for a long long time! you know it's precious, you hear the stories of poor QC issues with these toys, and you handle them with the utmost delicacy in the most controlled fashion possible. They almost cease to become toys! I wonder if 5 year olds can really play with them.

Sure, if they want a bunch of broken TFs. You can tell the mainline pieces (Deluxe, Voyager, Leader) are aimed at adults and collectors. The Cyber Slammers, Cyber Stompers, and Real Gear are aimed at the kids. The Real Gears and their lack of complexity prove this.

Which is great for us, but will make for a lot of pissed off parents.

When you first pull the arms out, they have to click! It's a bit worrying. I had the same problem. As you transform him, you'll find that nearing the end you are then able to manually push the arms back!

QFT. :D

the moment of epiphany came when i first gently, but firmly, pulled out one of his legs...when the automorph kicked in, i was so freakin' flabbergasted, i didn't know whether to snicker like a little boy or jump out in joy. man, it's good to know there is at least some new progress in the whole 20 + year history of these toys. 8)

I've noticed that every picture I've seen of 08 BB is Wrong. If you have problems with the top automorph staying in place, flip the hood piece that is now on the back forward and it locks the chest in place. So far every picture I have seen of him has not done this, thus making him very flimsy.

Just a tip.

Agree with Bugbite about the hood, and the shoulders most certainly need to be pulled out, it took 3 of my friends almost 2 hours to transform Bumblebee into robot mode, as they didnt even try to pull the shoulders out, until I finally got bored of watching them flounder and told them the single thing they had forgotten to do.

The only other transforming advice I can give is insert the gun back into the boot compartment before trying to do the top half and re-align everything.

I'm selling any extras I find to people on the boards and locally who want them. So no, I have not kept a second for myself yet.

I'm thinking of nabbing a second when I see it but only because people rave about how great theirs is...I'm starting to think mine's defective because the joints are super-loose (and always have been) and he tries to flop to the ground alot. I thought they were all like that, but I keep hearing "Oh, BB08 is so fantastic! *spoo*" that I'm going to have to try again.

Yeah, the joints on mine are extremely loose too. I can only stand him up in certain poses. Maybe he's not transformed right (he looks like he is), but that waist joint just flops around so he wants to fall over a lot. The hip/leg joints are pretty loose too.

I'm tempted to open up the one I bought for my buddy back home to see if it's the same way.

I felt the same way when I first transformed him. As my first movie toy with automorph I was pretty impressed at how the transformation unfolded in front of me. Substandard paint apps aside, this is already one of my all time favorite Transformers.

Yeah, my headlights turn all the way up and turn into boobs. I'd like to think Hasbro made them swivel so far for a reason.

And I'd like to add another vote to the "leg automorph is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while" category. The Classic BB's leg automorph was nifty, but this one was just perfect.

I grabbed me a second when when I finally found one that the Scalpers had not gotten to.
I got it for display purposes, to have 1 in robot and 1 in vehicle mode, not because I am afraid of the Bee breaking.

I know that one day he will, that his automorph/s will die, turning him into a badly painted lump of plastic, but that will happen whether or not he gets transformed a little or alot.

There is one real Gear that is an actual flashlight, not very bright, but would come in very handy during un-expected power outages - esp. here in So Fla!!!
