robotrik wrote:good episodes. btw on it was wheeljack that was captured by the sub-atlantiens and not ratchet.
Outrider2000 wrote:Atlantis, Arise! was one of my favs as a kid, and still one I watch quite a bit on DVD. it also if memory serves me, has one of the most strange animation mistakes in any of the G1 series. the deal where Optimus is holding up the Washington Monument, and runs 'out' of himself into the distance.
I also liked when the King of Atlantis was just gonna blow the whole thing up, and Rumbles assessment of his mental condition

It would be funny to read a list of the weird features that TFs convinently have in one episode/issue and then never have again. Like all the funny things that their hands retract back and turn in to.
On the epidode with the cosmic rust, Starscream's hand turns in to an awkward looking plier thing, just to pull the asteroid chunk out of Megatron's shoulder. He could have just done it with his hand. It was bizarre.

Yeah sorry. I kept making that mistake, calling Wheeljack Ratchet.Fixed a few of them, but I guess I just missed that one.Outrider2000 wrote:Atlantis, Arise! was one of my favs as a kid, and still one I watch quite a bit on DVD. it also if memory serves me, has one of the most strange animation mistakes in any of the G1 series. the deal where Optimus is holding up the Washington Monument, and runs 'out' of himself into the distance.

Yeah, that was funny.
BTW the next reviews will start off with "Enter the Night Bird".

Atlantis, Arise!
Decepticons find a city at the bottom of the see, which is inhabited by weird looking Fish people.
They enlist their help to take over the World however the King has other plans. Ratchet is captured, and the King of the underwater city begins engineering a gun to stop both the Aubotots and the Decepticons.
The Decepticons help the Atlanteans get their city back up to the surface, with Energon cubes.
Battle ensues, and the Atlanteans are defeated as are the Decepticons.
Points to note:
It seems Bumblebee is airtight, and Spike can change into his diving gear inside him.
The Atlanteans communicate telepathically, and even though they can scramble their thoughts, Soundwave some how can unscramble them to learn what they say to each other.
Decepticons and Autobots can somehow drive and function in water. Starscream and Thundercracker can glide effortlessly in the water in Jet mode.
Prime's Trailer is large enough to fit all the Dinobots in Robot mode.
Prime can drive on water.![]()
Interesting Episode overall. Dinobots are always fun to see, and the inclusion of a non Transformer foe was nice. I kind of hoped they would have used this opportunity to introduce some water based TF's. Heck where was Seaspray in all this? Instead they have Submarine Cars and Planes.
7/10
Day of the Machines
Megatron takes control of a super advanced computer by using a telescoping rod that ejects from his forehead and inserts into a port on the computer that goes by the name of Torq III. with this machine under his control, he attaches remote control chips to machines all over the place. He plans on taking over all the world's Oil production to turn into Energon cubes.
The Autobots of course foil his plan. Optimus Prime deactivates Torq III by punching a button panel in front. Mean while other autobots are trying to stop Megatron, who is now in possession of an Oil platform in the middle of the ocean, from draining all the oil.
Points to Note:
Megatron uses a telescoping rod from his forehead to gain control of Torq III. Now, when has he ever used that before, or again for that matter? Or why does he have it in the first place. Weird Feature.
Autobots appear out of nowhere in different scenes. i.e when The Autobots arrive to to the bunker to destroy Torq III. Only Ironhide, Sideswipe, Wheeljack and Prime are visible next to the Scientist that built Torq III. When the camera view changes, Prowl suddenly appears just behind Prime, and Wheeljack disappears from subsequent scenes in the same location.
Arriving at the Oil Platform, Skyfire transforms halfway from plane to robot in a sort of Yamato Valkyrie walker Mode homage, and lets Hound and Spike out of his... well its his... uhmm.. well he opens a hatch in his CROTCHand they walk out of it. Talk about 80's animation freedoms. I'd like to see something like that in the new Animated series LOL.
After breaking into the Bunker where Torq III is housed, Prime faces one of Torq's robots. An octopus type robot with tentacle like extensions with pincers at the end. One of the Pincers has a Remote control circuit linker that it attaches to Prime who appears to immediately fall under Torq's control, however seconds later Prime removes the circuit linker and claims to have replaced it in the robots hand with a dead linker. Yet Prime is never seen replacing the linker when the robot is trying to place it on him. Furthermore, Prime says he did it while Torq was gloating, but Torq only gloats until after the robot places the circuit linker on Prime and he is under Torq's control. Weird writing there.
Overall the episode has lots of action, including another Dinobot rampage which is always fun. Mistakes seem to be getting bigger, and weird animation choices make this episode one of the more entertaining to watch. 8/10.
