a sutiable ending for the beast wars third season?

Postby genozaur » Wed Sep 30, 2009 7:51 pm

i have been giving this abit of thought lately.

if beast wars had been given a longer third season storyline wise

i figure it would have been a fair bet that we would have seen tigatron and airrazor ressurected in transmetal style bodies.

quite possibly with tigerhawk himself being ressurected to exist as his own individual person possibly with his mind being wiped so that in a certain manner of speaking as a lviing being he would himself be their adult son in both mind body and spirit as well

considering how much dinobots character sacrificed of himself when he sacrificed his life in code of hero and again when he died a second time through his transmetal 2 enhanced clone at the very tail end of nemesis part 2 i got a question

check this out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uPDRk2v ... L&index=36

YouTube - LOSH: Dark Victory Pt.4

that whole space funeral scene from 416-502

could that entire scene with a minor change or 2 have actually worked at the time?

say with optimus having forcibly rescued dinobots dying transmetalised body just as the enemsis control tower began to explode with the space funeral happening just as the maximals have finally left earth for a stabilised geosynchronous orbit in outer space orbiting earth but with them leaving to make the jump to transwarp space just after the funeral

just my thoughts but i actually think it could work

if you swap out bouncing boys character for rhinox

giantboy for tigerhawk

blok and shrinking violet for silverbolt and black arachnia

the two triplicates for tigatron and airrazor

star boy for optimus primal and sun boy for cheetor

and chameleon boy being swapped out for rattrap

with the funeral theme itself being swapped out for the one that was used in code of hero when dinobot died speaking his final words to his maximal comrades and dinobots funeral them playing as optimus gives his speech during the funeral

maybe its just me but i can think of no more fitting way to honor dinobots sacrifice then a space funeral scene as his lifeless transmetalized body is sent into the earths sun with the sun serving as both his final grave marker and memorial

thoughts people?

Well I'm going nitpick something. Dinobot 2 didn't die. He survived otherwise the decepticons would found his deadbody on the Nemesis later. All evidence of the beast wars was undone by the end. What exactly happened to second Dinobot is unclear, but he didn't die thats for sure heh. He might just fell apart of old age and died from lack of energon, but he didn't die in that scene shown.

In an unused scene, Primal is shown delivering G1 Megatron's spark back to him.

Between when the Nemesis crashed, and when they left, any amount of time could have passed to facilitate this transfer, and any other clearing up that needed to be done, including finding and scavenging Dinobot's body, which, incidentaly, could just have been incinerated in the blast (although unlikely given he's a Transmetal 2). We never see the control tower again in G1, I believe. It could have been utterly destroyed and Dinobot along with it.

From a story-telling point of view, it'd be shameful to allow a character like Dinobot to carry on. He lived by the sword, he died by the sword, he fills the Warrior Archetype perfectly and it would be sacrilege to allow his fate to be any other way.

We wouldn't have seen more of Tigerhawk as Hasbro first insisted in Mainframe putting him in as his toy was rather expensive and then insisted in having him removed from the show as his toy might not be released.

And it's pretty clear that Optimus did not save Dinobot as there was no time left and Dinobot made it clear that he wants to die.

who said anything about dinobot not dying?

all i am saying is that it would have in some ways been a better way to have ended season 3 if dinobots lifeless body had been placed in a staiss pod and jetisoned into the sun as a space funeral to honor the clones sacrifice in the end

And there's plenty enough reason to assume funerals may have been held for the bots who didn't make it in the time between the Nemesis going down and the Maximals leaving. Don't forget Tigerhawk (and by extension Tigertron and Airazor), Depthcharge, Transmutate, and whoever else. And again, Dinobot was more than likely incinerated.

If they did have any sending-off's for any of the Beast Warriors, it would've been off camera, and rightly so. We don't need to recap everyone who bit the dust throughout the series, chances are we were there to see it, not to mention time restraints in the episode itself. Children aren't always excited to see funerals of beloved characters, and one funeral - Dinobot's - is more than enough to satisfy a series without depressing them further by listing off all the bots who snuffed it. That, and you don't want to give kids more reasons not to buy the toys of the guys who died.

You can believe what you like, but theres no proof one way or the other. If anything his survival might been why there was information about his original's death in the first place heh. Ironic he had a choice after all haha.

The third season wasnt neat to the most of characters (except Waspinator, ). I would prefer Inferno and the other Preds dying in battle. But in this fashion, the first season ended with 2 almost-deux-ex-machina deaths (yes, nobody cares about Scorponok and Terrorsaur but it was anticlimatic).

Maybe a massive funeral? Or at least a last view on some kind of cemetery?

Nah, Inferno and Quickstrike were only EVER comic relief. No one took them seriously, and kids are completely critical. If they aren't emotionally invested in a character because that character's only personality is a comic one, then you can safely kill them off as humorously as you like, and you should go for it.

Honestly, think about trying to force a moving, deeply dramatic death of those two down our throats, we just don't care that much. They were cool, but seriously, they didn't deserve too much thought. And, depending on how sensitive you are, having those two used as various tools for the primitives was hilarious.

Death's in television shows is a hard thing to do just right but I think, given what they had, the Beast Wars crew did a good job. Excellent, in fact, in this Beasties opinion anyway.
