After the Big war what happened?

Postby imotron » Wed Jan 30, 2008 1:58 pm

Hello guys, you are my last hope to find some information or actual facts that will let me sleep from now on :-?

During the Transformers 1986 movie we saw lots of Autobots and Decepticons dying and reformatted, now, what happened to characters like Sideswipe, Jet Fire, and many other Autobots that they simply disappeared from the cartoon. Now I know there are several time lines such as the Marvel Comics that as an example Jetfire and the Aerialbots got killed by Starscream, but on the cartoon specifically what went wrong? what happened to them, did they took an early retirement plan?

Please help me!

They were simply sidelined so that the episodes could focus more on the "new" characters such as Rodimus, Arcee, Springer etc....

I reckon that sucks.

Great Autobots like Sideswipe and Bluestreak deserved more time in the 1st and 2nd season. It was also crap how they were virtually no where to be seen the the movie.

Sucks as it does, it's what you have to do with an ever growing cast.

I agree, I would have liked to have seen these characters more than in the backround like Omega Supreme was once in season 3, or worse yet only mentioned.

It's nothing new though. TrailBreaker only showed up in season 2 whenever they convieniently needed a force field. Always waiting behind a rock or something?

I beleive JetFire/SkyFire was shown in the mosuleim during Dark Awakening as well as a handful of other bots that didn't die?

In the Decepticon version either StarScreams Ghost or Gjost in the Machine(I forget which) Octaine ran into a Decepticon memorial that had Dirge who was seen next episode, and ThunderCracker, which always confused me because he was reformated not dead?

So yeah it sucks that alot of great figures got either killed or writen off the show. However alot do reapear in the first few episodes of HeadMasters before pretty much the entire cast is writen off altogether.

Oh, and dead characters who appeared again in later episodes was due to the fact that Seasons 3 and 4 had worse animations than Seadons 1 and 2.....

I found this link that a very good friend of mine just sent to me:

http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Jetfire_(G1)

On the search area, type any TF's name.... quite interesting, by the way I need to see Dark Awakening again... rather the entire G1 carton and take appropriate notes to share here

Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
Alot of it has to do with Hasbro. They wanted to feature new toy Charchters like every other month so others like Sideswipe, Sunstreaker and so on got left in the wind. Skyfire/Jetfire's figure appears in "Dark awakening"
And many Others, even ones that died in the movie , appear in Takara's Headmasters but that was due to Takara not knowing what The American series had already established.

Well Season 1 and 2 was a period of time when all Cartoons in the U.S looked like that. G.I. Joe, He-Man, Thundercats, Jem and the Holograms  . It was Classic animation of that time thats nostalgic for some people (like me).
I love TF Season 1 Animation and I think Season 2 got even more crisp , clear and refined. Season 3 by Far had some bad animation BUT it also had some of the Best animation of all G1 time. An example ..."Call of the Primitves" That was hands down some of the Best animation of the whole G1 era! ( early Japanimation at it's finest )
Season 4 I felt like they took it back to Season 2 roots of animation but with a whole new look and cast of characters ( hence the Re-Birth /:) ) Prime was back and everything.
But I love the animation of those years, flaws and all!

The Ultimate Weapon (one of my most favourite episodes, too!) had decent animation, especially during the big fight between Metroplex and Trypticon. And that was a fantastic scene, too! :)

To bad that episode had to fail, by making Unicron the failed science project of a monkey-man.

There bodies were reformated but their soul's, sparks or what ever were dead.

Agreed.

There were 3 characters that were showen dieing in the movie that did return in season 3 and had speeking lines in the episodes.

It wasnt a mistake of the animators but of the writters.

Care to take a guess as to which 3 characters I'm talking about???

But Dirge Ramjet and Thrust did several appearances during the show, I thought that they survived fighting Unicron, since there was not many references after and during the movie that they died.

That was my point.

They dies in the movie and returned in season 3 with out any explaination.

As for them surviving the fight.....they were showen exploding inside Unicrons mouth and then he closed his teeth and munching down on them .

You can call it an animation error but it wouldnt be 100% correct to do so.

What it really was.....is that early scripts for the movie featured the deaths of most [ if not all ] of the season 2 characters in addition to the deaths of of the season 1 characters.

So more then likly the "Coneheads seekers" deaths scenes were animated under the older scripts and ether....
[A] never reanimated because of cost.
[B] forgotten about and left in by mistake
[C] was thought to be un-important enough to be reanimated

If you look at the early story boards for the 86 movie you'll see characters like Smokescrean dieing in place of Wheeljack

And Red Alert dies while running from Deverstator with Ultra Magnus and other Autobots like Tracks and Sideswipe.
