I think I read (on IDW's site?) that Ratbat's alt. mode in Devastation was a [real world] Sony communications device (here's a link to Su's DeviantArt: http://ej-su.deviantart.com/art/Ratbat- ... -104748256).
I think I also read something from McCarthy that said Ratbat is now a cassette "because Soundwave is a cassette player". That explanation doesn't satisfy me, really!
