Well after I build the 0 I'm gonna start watching season 2. We follow each other on twitter right? I'll hit you up there. Although before I hit the S2 kits I wanna at least get the thrones and, maybe a FLAGG. Oh and the big one from the finale. Who was that guy? It was 2 in 1

I think the only kit from 00 I'll buy (beside the 00 Raiser PG) will be the Agrissa. It didn't last long, but it was a beast! I'd like to see it in a 1/144 scale, but I think it might be cool to have Bandai but it in there "high grade mechanics" line, a 1/550 scale line of mobile armors from Stardust Memories.

Sadly they never made a model kit for that beauty.

Is there any figure representation of it? I assume then they didn't make the spider legged one the war monger used in the debut episode of the thrones.

I'm assuming you meant the RG rx-78...forgive me if i'm mistaken. I would be slightly weary doing this, only because i'm not sure just how articulated the hands actually are(convotron could chime in here). Also keep in mind that gundams of the same scale are not necessarily the same size. I think a size comparison would be necessary.

side note: I want a Haro. I don't know why.

Exia is 18.3 meters tall, and RX-78 is 18.5. So they are pretty much the same size, both the standard "Hero Gundam" size.

Perhaps wait for a RG Exia? If the line takes off, Bandai will release one for sure!

Yeah but something tells me that'll be a few years down the line. I really want the 1/144 exia just to see how they work the GN Sword compared to the 1/60. The RG I really want due to the fact that the 0 Gundam I built doesn't come with a beam for his sword and they look interchangeable. I must say I was impressed with the fact that the 0 Gundam is the same size as a Deluxe TF.

I don't know if it would be wise to use the RG RX-78-2's hands for another 1/144 model. The reason is that the hands may not grip other weapons that well. The RG RX-78-2's hands have a ball joint for the thumb, ball joint for the index finger, and a ball joint for the grouped fingers of the middle/ring/pinky. The thumb and index fingers also have an additional joint, a hinge joint, one joint up from the knuckle. They look great but if not for the way that the weapons of the RG kit peg into the palms of the hands, the model wouldn't be able to securely hold the accessories.

Question, since Bandai owns Macross have they ever released a 3 mode transformation model of the Valks in the Gunpla style?

Sorta. They've put out kits for Macross Frontier as far as i am aware. The build is similar to a gundam in some respects, but truthfully they don't hold up well. These kits are sorta for posing once or twice and then leaving alone. Not as durable as a gundam by any means.

They have but to be honest, you're better off with toy versions for Valkries. True transformation designs, especially for designs like Valkyries, which require a degree of durability and have little margin for error. Plastic model kits aren't meant to stand up to that kind of experience repeatedly. Bandai's 1/72 Macross Frontier Valkyrie model kits are the first true transforming VF models I'm aware of. They work fine but many people have had problems with the kits due to breaking some smaller pieces during transformation. I haven't had problems with mine yet but it's definitely not an ideal mix(plastic model kit + transforming design).

The 1/72 MF kits are the same as gunpla with respect to materials used. They're just as durable in my experience(I have the VF-27 gamma). The problem is that the transformation designs are very precise with little room for error and so when you have ABS and PS plastic parts of the thinness that average plamo consist of, it tends to make things a bit dicey. However, I've transformed my 1/72 VF-27 kit numerous times without problems, no signs of stress marks on the plastic parts yet.

The 1/72 VF-25 kits are less troublesome than the VF-27 kits as the latter have some small and finely sculpted parts that are more delicate. The tab for securing the nosecone in the VF-25 kits, however, are notorious for breakage.

I guess I'm biased then. My 1/72 VF-25S drove me nuts. Wasn't a moment of building that kit that i didn't wish i had just sprung for the diecast toy

On an unrelated note: I've got a 1/100 Over Flag coming in next week. I don't usually build "cannon fodder" MS's but something about this one...

Well plastic model kits aren't meant to stand up to the same physical demands as standard action figures/toys so while I think the 1/72 MF kits are a great example of plamo engineering for transformable designs, I'd rather have such mecha in toy form. The VF Hi-Metal line is a better alternative if one doesn't mind 1/100 scale VFs(though the Hi-Metal VF-1J I have is actually somewhat larger than 1/100 scale).

I like the Flag family of MS designs from 00 Gundam. The Brave from Awakening of the Trailblazer looks quite cool to me.

Keep in mind, the "diecast" valk is roughly only 10% diecast. All that is diecast is the shoulders, hips, ankle, and landing gear. It also has a completely rubbish gerwalk mode.

Bandai really should redesign the VF-25s. Their VF-27 is quite nice and they obviously learned a lot after making the VF-25. A new version 25 would rock!

Meh. I agree I should have waited for the VF-27. I was actually working on painting my VF-25S in a custom color scheme similar to the VF-27 Lucifer, but as more of am homage to Gundam Epyon. Oh well.

I'm still not entirely sure why I'm getting a 1/100 Over Flag. Probably has to do with me watching Graham Aker pwn Gundam Throne Eins about half an hour before I placed the order. It struck a chord with me and made me think of Zechs and the Tallgeese (interestingly enough there's a custom flag out there on the web designed to look like the Tallgeese.) I'm really hoping that with the Over Flag being mostly one color I won't have to take any paint to it.

EDIT: Dunno if this is new or old, but i found this image of the rafael gundam

Mind = Blown

Finally! A reason to start buying 1/144 kits! I'm tempted to buy two and use the frame of it to mod into a Xeku Eins to go with my other 1/144 Gundam Sentinel stuff!

I also like this HGUC Gouf Custom... the machine gun is something I haven't seen on kits too often..
