This is just an idea mind you not the answer.

The Transformers are a space-faring race that have traveled all over the galaxy. They scanned so many alts modes on countless worlds many times that all scanning and re-scanning causes their robot forms to change, evolve, transform, or whatever you want to call it, because they're always adapting to new and different planets and environments. It's also quite possibly that different alien technologies have been introduced over to the Transformers over the years ranging from upgrades to repairs could also cause them their robot forms to change, evolve, transform, or whatever you want to call it as well.

It's just an idea.

Be it that it may, I still hold my argument that its bad for the story arc to have multiple styles of TF's being drawn. Now, I don't care that the new style is being used, I just want it used consistantly.

You can't expect me to read a movieverse based book with the G1 representations of the characters in the book.

I don't mind new styles, Marvel TF changed the styles and artists constantly, but the robots stayed very similar to the sources/animation models all the time (except for the first few issue, where they were portrayed after their toys).
But if Marvel would play with Spiderman like Idw plays with tf models, in one issue Spidey would wear his normal costume, than in the next the black, and without any explanation the Iron-Spider costume (or, just for fun, let's add a green costume on Parker, because the artist wants to do something new).
