Technically, they were MSX games. The NES version of Metal Gear is pretty different(I have it, but never did beat it, and can't think of any major changes right off hand), and it's sequal "Snakes Revenge" is completely unnofficial, and has been likened to a top-down Contra. Don't really see how though.

Me, Grimlock! wrote:MGS2 and 3 are awesome. They turned me onto those types of games. Probably the reason I have a PS2 (and probably will soon get a PS3) is because of MGS games.
MGS2 got a little preachy near the end, and the end music is cheezy, but if you look past that, the games are fun.
And MGS3 is cool. The only thing that would make these games cooler is an add-on like RE4 had with Mercenaries. And maybe someone can explain all these side games. MGS Substance? Acid? All I've got are 2 and 3 and I don't know how anything but MG1-2 and MGS1-4 fit into the series. For instance, what's the difference between MGS Substance and regular MGS2? What's MGS3 Subsistence got that MGS3 doesn't? What's MGS Twin Snakes?
In fact, this thread has inspired me to go replay one of those games once I get a shred of free time.

Me, Grimlock! wrote:So a lot of these are add-ons to the original games? Should have picked them up instead of the regular game.

Me, Grimlock! wrote:Well, I don't have a PSP, so I guess I'll have to miss that part of the story.Ah, well. You win some, you lose some.
