Muliplayer is hit or miss. I haven't been on for a couple weeks, but sometimes there's a few people on, sometimes it's just you and someone else, sometimes it's no one.
The single player is pretty good, and though I haven't done it for awhile, getting Platinum on all the missions(which is an Achievment) can get pretty addicting.
But most importantly, is the game any good? Yes, I find it to be really fun, but I suppose the controls are just a little awkward. One big thing to note: the transformatino button is on the right trigger, and you can change mid-run, mid-jump, do a super jump after transforming, etc. Basically, there's no unskippable cinema, and it's very fluid and fast. I think it's leagues better than the first game, because you can actually SHOOT the Decepticlones/Autoredshirts to kill them. No magic forcefield's, and no having to throw things at a boss to hurt them. Gosh the first movie game had some bad game design that pulled it under...
Anyway, it did lose a couple of things from the first movie game. The mission variety doesn't seem as big, it's mostly protect this or shoot that and kill all Decepticons/Autobots. There is free roam, but it's a seperate mode that is only unlocked after completing all missions in that area. The enviroments aren't all that big, there's no incoming traffic or Decepticons to fight, and no objectives. There's really nothing to do in that mode. There aren't any Energon Cubes to collect either, but that could be a blessing. Finally, the biggest change that could be a turn off is enviromental damage has been cut way down to almost nill, and you can no longer pick things up to throw them or use them as weapons. I think you can sling a parked car, but I never got it to work well.
However, depsite those losses, the speed of the game has been tightend up immensly, and since the missions are timed(not limited), it encourages replays to increase your score, and in my opinion makes the game more fun than the first by leagues.
Characters? There's 10 in total(without downloadable content), though you sometimes you cant' pick a certain character depending on a mission. The DLC character's are pretty cool, and it does give you a hard mode that I haven't played yet.
Last thing I want to mention is extras, of which there are quite a few(concept art, six G1 episodes), but not near as many as the first game. Unlocking them isn't as hard either.
So all in all, it's a good game, not quite as good as Armada PS2, but more fun than the first game. I wouldn't buy it strictly based on multiplayer though(just my opinion, as I'm more of a single player guy). You should still be able to download the demo of the game, and that will probably be the deciding factor.
