Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.
Shadowman wrote:This is Sabrblade we're talking about. His ability to store trivial information about TV shows is downright superhuman.

Yeah, Energon was a direct sequel to Armada.
But I never read the comics so I'm not sure how well they did with it.

Not well, IMO. The end of Armada promised a return for Unicron and a higher quality story, but as soon as I saw Optimus Prime (later named Megazord Prime) I immediately had doubts. No surprise, 3 issues into it, the story became convoluted and completely disconnected from Armada, so i stopped reading. Perhaps there were good issues, but I never cared to find out.
Armada issues 14-18, World Collide, kicked ass. They took me right back to the later issues of G1. So sweet.

I think the energon issues where awesome. But I don't know how much they went away from Armada as I haven't read everything from that.

Blurrz wrote:I've watched 33 episodes of Energon. I watched a handful when I was a kid. I want to stab myself for renewing my lack of knowledge about Transformers: Energon.
Back when i was a kid I was totally hooked into Armada. Mini-Cons. Optimus Prime. Blurr. Powerlinking. More Mini-cons. Mini-cons. Miniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiconnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnns. Hasbro's marketing worked. I wanted more Mini-cons. Regardless of how other people thought of the cartoon series, I watched it because I wanted to see the Mini-cons. And what did I get? Some of the best TF episodes in the form of the Unicron battles.
Fast forward a couple months. Transformers Energon. Gimick is in the name. No Blurr... WTF? Mini-cons are there.. but the Star Saber is now referred to as the Energon Saber. The most powerful sword in the universe a decade ago is now some useless piece of crap that's used by some Super Saiyan imitation of a kid. Don't get me wrong, Kicker's pretty freaking awesome. In fact I like him alot better than A/R/C because he doesn't have an annoying voice as Carlos. And there's only one of him.
However, there are a multitude of reasons why Energon seems to be really lackluster compared to Armada.
-Snow Cat;
His yodeling makes no sense at all. It's also 'drive me up the wall crazy'. And why the heck does he need Skis in space? What in the world is going on?
-Mirage;
Previously Tidalwave. However he repeats Mirage over and over again alot frequently than Tidalwave. Annoying.
-Unicron;
The Death bringer is now a load of junk. It just doesn't really feel good when they're spreading the Unicron sweepstakes from the first dozen episodes till the end.
-Scorponok;
Side changing is retarded. It's also pretty dumb when you do it 4 times.
-Humans;
Are there like 10 people on Earth now? Seriously, what the hell happened to the population?
-Ironhide;
More annoying than Armada Hot Shot
-Inferno;
Since when could Megatron alter a loyal Autobot into a Decepticon by stabbing him?
-Cliffjumper;
I understand why he's not named Wheeljack because there was a previous Wheeljack in the Armada series. However, why the heck does he look exactly like G1 Wheeljack? Wouldn't it be nice to atleast make him coloured into something else?
The only thing enjoyable about Energon is Shockwave, who has the same VA as Armada Blurr and is pretty kickass as a Rogue.
So, anyone want to suggest I watch the last 17 episodes of TF: Energon? Or shall I renew my knowledge on TF: Cybertron and avoid this annoying crap.
Cheers,
Blurrz
Dead Metal wrote:I thought they were a really good read, of course they can't be as big and epic as Worlds collide as that was the final arc of Armada and was meant to end Armada with a big bang.
But I really liked Scorponok in the Energon comic, how he offed Starscream and just the way he went about things and I just love his line of "How much more do I have to kill till I kill something you care for?" was pretty badass the only reason I stopped reading was due to the comic dealer I got mine from decided to stop ordering them during Megatron Month.
