As a whole, originals or repaints?

Originals. Because not all molds get a repaint. And normally the repaint is a horrible color compared to the original.

I'll usually go for originals unless it's a Magnus repaint of a Prime.

Well surely it depends? There are some great repaints out there, like GF Soundblaster, and there are repaints that surpass the originals like GF Master Galvatron, but on the other hand there are some awful repaints too for example some of the Fox Kids Beast Wars figures. I go with what I prefer the look or character off.

Both. Seriously. If I see a great repaint that I like I really want to get the original to justify it. I'm just starting a collection so I'm focusing on Prime/Magnus comparison.

Usually the original, though repaints are nice to get a second chance at the mold. And sometimes repaints look better than the original to me, like Night Slash Cheetor and Blastcharge.
Faction changing repaints are also fun. Universe Frostbite is awsome

It would depend on the repaint. Faction changing repaints are real cool, as are better than the original repaints. Like the Galaxy Force Vector Prime repaint is not my cup of tea, becuase it's one figure repainted as the same figure with a different paint job. The G1 seekers may not officially count, but they were six different characters. The Cybertron Smokescreen was great because it was a faithful homage as well as a superior looking figure to the kinds bland Crosswise. Generally I don't like repaints of figures in their 'powered up' modes, like energon Ironhide, although if I really am fond of a mold I'll buy the repaint anyhow, like Energon Jetfire/Overcast (I know, I know, it's real ugly, but I kinda like it....).
I also liked the Universe line, becuase they were repaints often masquerading as older characters, and not just the Cyb Smokescreen thing. I think that's tough to explain. But like Armade Blur was repainted and was Swerve, I think, and so that's cool by me.

Both.
Repaints can be frustrating when they miss the obvious like Energon Divebomb as Banzai-tron or even RID Ultra Magnus as Motormaster, MW Mirage as Drag Strip or Cybertron Clocker as Hot Rod.
Oh and where are the Seeker drones?
Destructicon Scourge is a 'Prime' example of a great repaint.

Hmmm repaints or originals.....
It all depends on color which one I like more but generaly I like all.
(except for that damn Buzzsaw from cybertron it makes me wanna punch it for personal satisfaction)

False dichotomy, I say. Anything else I could add has been covered buy Ak and Dagon.
I told the fire to go **** itself, and it did.

hard to say, specialy since the many diffrent charactersin transforemrs were founded on repaints. repaints however can get played out. seriously, how many repaints of Carrobots/RiD viper do we need? sideburn... god that names almost as bad as lugnuts.

When I said repaint, it includes characters that are based on an original mold, like the seekers. My personal favorite repaints include (no specific series) Ultra Magnus, Nemesis Prime, Skywarp, Thundercracker and Galvatron. Whenever a character is repainted into them, I pick them up right away.
