Technically it's a symbol of state's rights, but the overwhelming majority would go with your definition.

Which reminds me, did you know that there's a california city that has a swastika pattern on it's lampposts? People kept complaining about it being a nazi symbol but the lampposts actually predated the nazi party's formation (circa 1920-30).

When all the lines are horizontal rather than diagonal, it's actually a Hindu and Buddhist symbol. Look at Nazi insignia again and you'll see it's always at a 45 degree angle.
