Burn wrote:You know, if people get pissed at me, well they're quite silly because they have no reason to get pissed at me over this thread.
I didn't mislead anyone, the news story I posted is 100% legit, it's not MY fault people jump to conclusions.
I mean really, they should be going "Hey, why is this in General Discussion? Burn's no idiot, he knows something like this would go in TF GD!"

But of course that sort of news doesn't get out much, because no one cares about silly life saving medical research when there's more important things to read about like what the latest Hollywood bimbo did over night.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

I too think it should be locked. Trying to make an April Fool's joke out of someone's death and "cashing in" on it is far from funny or entertaining. Sure, it made us look and for that, Burn wins points.
As it stands this is just in bad taste, especially considering a person's actual death was the core for the "joke" and no respect is being given.
I wonder how one's family would react to such a tactic?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, be glad I'm not a mod or an admin...this wouldn't ever fly with me.

Jeep! wrote:This isn't about having a sense of humour. To most of the world, this Peter Cullen wold be better known than the voice actor - imagine the post had been titled "John Waters dies". Now I'd have jumped to the conclusion that it was John Waters the filmmaker, but it might very well have been John Waters the politician, or the journalist, the actor, or the other filmmaker. Consider also that Peter Cullen the scientist also a lot more important out of the two, as ecological watchdogs (especially those consisting of eminent professionals) tend to be slightly more vital than a man with a microphone acting in a cartoon. Anyone attempting to call for this thread to be locked, or derailing it with sniping at Burn, ought to be ashamed of themselves. This man made a difference with his life, and I for one am sad to see him go, but sadder to see people who should know better treating this thread like this.
