Bay wants to start TF2 "Right Now"

Groan...
What NOT to have in 2 (in random order):
- one-dimensional characters (both human and Transformer). The Autobots are NOT heroes from space who go from planet to planet saving people. The Decepticons are NOT evil metal bugs from outer space who want to blow up the Earth.
- shaky-cam (then again, it is a Michael Bay movie), you know, in case the audience WANTS to see fight scenes without having to rely on slow-motion.
- product placement. We get it, hip young people eat at Burger King...
- steretyping. Then again, most Michael Bay flicks DO have chicks who wait at home and cry, or black people acting/speaking like gangstuhs or people in foreign countries relying on the America to save them.
- American patriotism (then again, it is a Michael Bay movie). Cybertronian patriotism, maybe.
- stupid humour. This isn't some teen comedy. Robots peeing and masturbation jokes don't really belong here (though 'Sam's Happy Time' was pretty funny).
What TO have in 2 (in random order):
- character development beyond 'This is [name] and he's our [function].'
- a female lead who can act.
- emotions beyond a chick crying in a tow truck or 'Jazz is dead. Ah, that's too bad.'
- a better score. The music wasn't nearly epic enough. In fact, it was forgettable. I'd love to hear what John Williams could do for the Transformers!
- a better script. Hire Bob Forward. Don't ask who he is. Just hire him and let him write something epic. Larry Ditilio can help, too, if he wants.

I wanna see Earth get toasted in the sequel.

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

enough with unicron. we know he'll probly eventually get in one of the sequels, but hes not needed. its been used so much that its time to move on with something new. if they really want a huge bad guy or sumthing, then make up somebody new!

it would be nice to see him transform..buuut it would have to be in a human like robot like all the others..but i doubt that will happen. i see it as if he's in the movie, then he'll get killed off easily and pretty quickly.

i hope not. i think unicron would be a major overkill. tired of him being used. if they are gonna do big bots, i say bring in bruticus, metroplex etc.

UGH.
Not Bay again. Im not surprised though, given the cash this movie has raked in you can bet they are going to play things safe and hire Bay again to spin his "magic" and bless us all with a TF2 movie. I mean come on, he must really want to make some $$$$$.....errrrrrrr......make a quality TF2 movie that all the fans will love.

No surprised there, with all the money its made Paramount, and the fact that it is being hailed as Bay's best film to date.
Sure has changed his tune from when he steadfastly refused to have anything to do with it isnt it?

I have to agree with the Nay Sayers on this one. Bay doesnt deserve a chance to direct TF 2, assuming it makes it past the negotiation phase.
While he did a decent job with this first movie, I dont think the bean counters are giving old fans enough credit. Shoot, most fans from the 80's like myself would've gone to see the movie regardless of who was directing, what it was made out of or how much CG it had.
If a 2nd movie comes out it needs to be alot better thought out than part 1. There needs to be a storyline with more depth than your average TV commercials (was I the only one that felt like the movie was several commercials for products strung back to back?).

Of course not, because that's all it was. An ad for various products and the US military, complete with explosions and tits.

Of course they won't. They want a brainless movie, not something with substance. This is HOLLYWOOD!!

No, they just aren't going to hire one of the writers/story editors from Beast Wars.
Also, considering how little Forward and Ditillio they knew about Transformers when they started work on the show, it is possible for someone else to become more versed in the brand as time progresses and to get a better handle on what they want to do with characters.

Me too, i mean after TF1 we know who Bumblebee and Optimus are(sorta) But know in the second one, we need to know more about them, and Racthet and Ironhide, and any Autobots they send

Still, the fact is the first movie hardly had characters at all. And since so many of the Decepticons were new and expendable characters, maybe it wouldn't have been so bad to have given them personalities. And the Autobots weren't that much better either, except for a few lines and the basic "Ironhide baddass, Ratchet scientific, Jazz cool" guideline.
I understand that Bob and Larry might not be the best men for the job, but the guys who wrote the first one (or at least the guys who allowed to the first one to end up as it did) sure weren't, either.
