Beast Wars: From show to toy.

Postby Flux Convoy » Sat Jul 07, 2007 4:52 pm

Motto: "Chaos... is coming!..."
I had a couple questions about some BW figures I've recently gotten and how their toy counterparts match up to the show. It seems that both Season 1 Cheetor and Tigatron use the guns that are their "gut" area from the toys, on the show. The weapons formed from the tail section are my concern. Do both characters have tails in robot mode in the show? I can't find good screen grabs and I don't really want to scour the DVDs looking for hints. Also, Transmetal II Cheetor, does he ever use the rocketpack/gun weapon on his back as a gun in the show? I can't recall and like I said, don't want to have to scour DVDs. Anyone know off the top of their head? Does Rampage ever use his toys' "shotgun" in the show? I just bought a whole bunch of show characters at Botcon and I like to portray them as accurately as I can in my collection. I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

Cheetor and TIGATRON,had no tails in robot mode that I remember.

Rampage did use his big gun (talking about the triple barrel blaster? I know you said shotgun, I just can't picture anything but the three barreled gun.)

TM11 Cheetor always used his 'mouth' cannon in robot mode. Put the two pieces of his mouth together and fired kind of thing, that I remember.

I couldn't remember for certain about the cats either. I do remember Rampage using the triple barrelled blaster in the show but not the shotgun like weapon the toy also comes with. You're thinking of the wrong Cheetor. TMII was the third iteration of the character. I do remember that about normal TM Cheetor. I still need that one.

Doh, well I guess I'm useless to you than...

But the cats, no tails in robot mode, and I do not think Rampage used the other gun...ever.

TM 2 was the 'ugly' version, right (kidding...it was kind of different though)? I am fairly certain he used a weapon, but which one it was... I don't have that figure, and I hated that Cheetor in the show...

I know thta Cheetor used the "Gut" gun in "Beast Wars Part 1" when he was in the chasm between the Maximals & Predacons. I can't remember if Tigatron did though...... TM2 Cheetor used his big gun that was on his back in Beast Mode only a few times I think. The only time I can think of was in "Feral Scream Part 2" when he was fighting Dinobot 2. Rampage only ever used his tri-missile launching gun in the show. There ya go

Why so weird?
The tail sections became blasters as toys and oh god I am hammered right now.

Cheetor used his rump-gun once or twice, I think it was done to differentiate from Tigatron's gut-gun.

Cheetor, after going Transmetal for the second time, used his rocket/weapon in Master Blaster, when Megatron was going to strike the fatel blow to Primal, we see Cheetor, among the other Maximals, firing upon the unsuspecting Megatron.....we even see Black Arachnia using some sort of hand-held blaster.

Rampage did use his rifle, there was one bit where he had a flashlight on it.

Rampage used his shotgun(well, two of them actually) in "The Agenda Part 3". As said, I know he used it a few other times as well.

Cheetor uses his tail-gun in the episode of Beast Wars where Tigatron wants to quite fighting after his animal friend Snowstalker dies in an avalanche. Forget the name of the episode though.

Funny thing about the "gut guns". The intestinal details were originally intended to be painted pink but when the painted test shots got back to Kenner, they decided it looked a little too disturbing for a kid's toy.

Thanks guys for those answers. I've got a few more questions too. I also recently got TMII Dinobot and Blackarachnia. I couldn't recall if Dinobot always has the tail attached in bot mode or not. Also, the weapon for BA's bot mode is kinda hokey. Did she ever use the pinchers/grappling weapon in that form? Was her weapon more of a gun than what came with that figure? Again, I appreciate the help.

Well as the topic reads its from show to toy, and I just wanted to point out that the worst show accurate toy has got to be Blackarachnia, hands down.

Beast machines Black arachnia on the other hand was done quite well, I wish they would have remadethe original as a Robot Masters version, which was closer to what she looked like in the show, then did the show accurate repaints like they did for Megatron and Optimus Primal.

oh well..

I think her toy gun is just meant to simulate her grappling gun, not any kind of blaster.

She always used her leg guns if I remember correctly.

Well, that's a bit backwards since the toys came before the show designs. The later toy and show designs (TM2 and Beast Machines) were planned more closely together.

As for the questions at hand, Blackarachnia did use the grappling gun in the show at least once. Also, I believe TM2 Dinobot used the tail weapon a couple times and it was never attached in robot mode.

TM2 BA used a grappling hook thing once. She was in beast mode and shot it out from her mouth, around Rampage's neck, and swung him around into a cliff.

TM2 Dinobot always had the tail attatched in robot mode. He used his laser eye and really sharp fingernails to scratch people to death. It was the original who seperated his tail into a spinning weapon.

As said, Rampage did use his shotgun things.

TM2 Cheetor did use his gun repetadly.

Cheetor always used the same gun except when Tigatron was also shooting on screen. They gave Tigatron the original gun and switched Cheetor to the other to help differentiate them. I forget which way around it is though.
