Best Prime toy?

Postby tylusbra » Thu Jul 19, 2007 1:17 am

Searched forums for this question and nothing. Just wondering what everyone thinks the best Optimus Prime toy is? For me, it's the ths-02 Optimus Prime. I don't own one but from what I've seen and read I think the alt mode, robot mode, quality, and the new transformation do it for me. Although I do think he is a bit too small. If Takara increased the ths-02 Prime size or decreased the masterpiece size I think we would end up with the perfect prime. I prefer the G1 Prime scale myself. What about eveyone else? Thoughts? Opinions?

MP-4 with THS-02 coming in at a close second.

In terms of detail: Masterpiece/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime. However, he's not really fun to transform.

For Transformation: Movie Leader Optimus Prime.

For looks, and posability coolness: Movie Voyager Optimus Prime.

Overall: Classics Optimus Prime. Why? He looks the closest to the original, and transforms the closest to it as well. GREAT posability and articulation. Looks GREAT in EVERY angle.

I know this may not answer your question, but that is the only way I can come up with a decision. If I could have only 1, then it would probably be Voyager Movie Prime. Despite his transformation cheat with his fake chest, he looks great.

MP Prime hands down, lights out, good night.

Leader Movie Prime is becoming a close second, but I also like g1 Prime just because it comes with its own playset, and the scale is really nice like you said. Mine has a bad problem with legs folding back into truck mode, or I would rate it higher.

Hearing you guys I'm even more determined that unless a credible effort is made to make Leader Megatron at least half as good as Leader Prime, displaying the same amount of thought and care into design, I can't justify buying him even if he's one big gaping hole in my TF movie collection. I'm new to collecting TF toys but my brother's not, and looking at all the Optimus Prime's he has, even I can appreciate just how good Leader Prime is. Why on earth couldn't they have made the effort to ensure an equal in Megatron is beyond me.

How anyone can mention any other Prime in the same post as MP Prime is beyond me.

Hands down, MP Prime is the winner.

Optimash Prime. Easy.

...

Okay, seriously... I'm torn between Leader Class Movie Prime and 20th Anniversary. Both are just great, great figures. I might be leaning more toward Movie Prime, just because I love the Peterbilt trucks(we pass by one of their facilities on the way to work, and some of the customers there are awesome... saw a black one with a mouth design on the grill, and I could only think Motormaster...).

I also think Cybertron Prime has some of the best playability, and even though he's a brick, Star Convoy is a damn PRETTY brick. And any Prime with Roller is a winner in my book. =D

As a Optimus Prime collector with over 150 different primes to date it has to be MP Prime and then either movie Prime or cybertron Prime both have excellent playability and a great design. THS-02 is a good figure but the piece on his arm that covers his hands could have been done better.

I think its fair to assume that the Masterpiece will be the best... and it is.

Aside from that, I thin Cybertron Prime followed closely by Classics prime. Cyb. has the best playability as well as a fun transformation and a slough of gimmicks (Wingsaber and Leobreaker attachments) Classic Prime is just soooo awesome to pose and pretty true to form as a G1 Prime so that is always a good thing.

Motto: "Collecting little transforming action figures is the right of all sentient Geeks."
Weapon: Indepentently Targetable Particle Beam Cannons
Didn't skywarp_2 run a few threads about this a while back?

Anyway, for me the Best Prime, is R.I.D/Car Robots/ Optimus prime/Fire Convoy. Amazing articulation, lost of possible modes, Combines with Ultra Magnus, to From Omega Prime. Just an all out great toy.
