Get them both, I say. They are different enough to justify having both.

I'd like to nominate TR Hardhead. He's just such a good figure. The tank mode is extremely vroomable, looks cool, has a tonne of fanmoding opportunities and has the best HM integration of any of the TR figures IMO. The robot mode meanwhile is just pure awesome- he could have done with a waist and ankle movement, but that aside he's properly poseable and extremely intimidating. Plus, between his huge guns, bulky frame, green armour and head design he looks like an Autobot Doomguy, which is AWESOME. I would nominate Skulcruncher but between the floppy hips and the amount of paint I've had to put on him in order to make him look passable he sadly misses out, which is a shame as at the base level he's a good mold.

Honestly, this was a really great year for Transformers. The Titans Return line has been fantastic. A few missteps (Fat Ravage, Galvatron's head), but some really stellar figures. HasTak nailed Blurr, and the Brainstorm remold might be even better. Hardhead has amazing play value, and even the beast bots look great.

The Robots in Disguise line improved this year, with some killer Decepticons (Fracture, Thunderhoof, Bisk, Starscream) being thrown in the mix. Yeah, Hasbro could toss another buck worth of paint into the figures, but they're fun and a good line for the kids.

I know there were some complaints about the Masterpiece line this year, but, for all their flaws, I really loved this year's lineup. Ratchet and Ironhide both have a really fun transformation, the bots look great, and they come with a gaggle of accessories (seriously, I could have done with a lot fewer). Tracks and Road Rage have serious flaws, but I still think they're fun figures, so long as you don't spend the moon on them. The standout for me this year was Hot Rodimus. I love, love that figure! He looks great in both modes (backpack be damned!), his transformation is a lot of fun, and he is perhaps the most poseable figure of the entire MP line. Just a really incredible figure.

This was an awesome review of the year. make sure you remember you posted this to copy paste it when we do our year round up article on seibertron. The good thing about this year with the MP line is that Tracks came out in 2015, so he doesnt tarnish this year too much And I like what you wrote. Its defintely not a great figure but at the same time, its unatractiveness made it very affordable so many of us got to pay what we felt was worth the figure. I myself have few regrets over my purchase of roadrage (I still dont like the figure much though). And I too have hot rodimus and while I preffer Iornhide and Primal, I still think he is awesome. I too like transforming him and I think he is the best hot rod toy we ever had (and you bet your ass thats gonna be made clear in a list next year).

Well, anything Masterpiece is automatically eliminated (as I don't tend to buy Masterpiece toys).

I don't have the issue some seem to have which is ignoring the main lines - it's more of a concern that I've only been able to find much of what I would have wanted in the last quarter of the year.

Also what is meant by "Best" - best engineering, best Transformation, best paint, best product quality, best play value, most fun ?

Excluding 3rd party and KO's (most of what I buy) the "actual" Transformer I play with the most is actually CW Wheeljack.

Another issue is things like Sky Lynx - he's lots of fun once you spend a day fixing him - but as he comes out of the box he's a bit of a mess in terms of product quality issues.

I can't exactly vote for Tricerashot simply as he's adorable - when he's also barely painted.

I suppose I'd have to go with Triggerhappy then.

Imho the best Transformer of this year is Masterpiece Inferno. Awesome!

I'm really fond of the Galvatron that I think is from 2016.

As I said in another thread, I recently got back into the Transformers so I'm not sure on the details of the new ones but the one I'm referring to, I believe its head comes off and transforms as well.

It is a good modern take of Galvatron. But if it was up to me,he should have been leader class and incorporated Blaster's Headmaster gimmick better.

The best figure of 2016 has to be mp shockwave

Non-mp best is chromedome

I haven't gotten any of the new MPs this year, so I can't comment on that category.

However, for the non-MP section, I'd have to nominate Liokaiser. Amazing colors, great stability, and awesome weapons.
