Aw, makes me wish I was in at least the right country - I love mocking art snobs!
A lot of the time it seems to me that being a 'good' artist (that is, usually the ones who do well in art 'exams', then become famous and make tons of wonger), is often far less to do with being good at drawing/painting/sculpting etc, and far more about throwing stuff together and being able to talk bollocks about it.
A friend of mine at college (who really
could paint) mocked the system perfectly in his final exhibition project. He threw together about ten canvasses. Each one was painted completely with one colour of emulsion, then had emulsion of a different colour poured onto it once dried. The result looked sort of like a Rorschach test.
When displayed, the titles read something like this (I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember specifically what he called them):
(Painting 1)
"A rabbit"
(or "My 2-year-old kid could paint that!")
(Painting 2)
"An elephant"
(or "My 3-year-old kid could paint that!")
(Painting 3)
"A dog"
(or "My 4-year-old kid could paint that!")
...and so it continued up until the last painting...
"A tree"
(or "...but he didn't, did he?")
Oh, I laughed...
Anyway...
Loving the work so far. How are these going to turn out - are they going to be transforming models or large-scale constructions (Devastator certainly looks to be a biggun, Hoist's hard to tell), or something else entirely?
