Hi,
I finally bit the bullet and bought one as it works out to be a quarter of what I would have paid for te Rhinos.
Price - 18.99. Shipping - 27.99
Package was received from China in 5 Days. Was delivered on Sunday. It was well packed and had no damage at all.
The DVDs come packaged oddly, maybe how they do box sets in China. The packaging looks almost like a photo album. There are 16 sleeves, each of which holds a disc that slides in and out from the top. The packaging is very nice, though all in Chinese. It looks like a little bio on every character fills the pages. Too bad I can't read it.
Anyway, the discs are definately remastered. The colors are deeper than the original VHS's I had and the sound is superior. There are still the original flaws though. Like certain episodes where Starscream is colored like Thundercracker, etc etc. It would have been nice if they could have fixed those, but w/e.
The newer episodes look better than the older btw. Seasons, 2,3,4 are pretty flawless. Season one looks, faded in areas.
If you do not own G1 on DVD, and do not want to spend $200 on the Rhinos, and do not want to wait for Sony, this is a great alternative at an even greater price. I would have no hesitation recommending and believe you will be quite happy with it.
Here is the link to the auction that I bought from. Seller was very polite, helpful, and got it to me within the week.
This is better than most US sellers. I've been waiting from my complete loose Metroplex for over 2 weeks now, and that person lives one state away.......
Or the pair of guns I bought for Laserbeak, like 2 states away and its been 9 days....
Or....nevermind, you get the idea.
Hopefully, this helps make your decision easier.
Item is exactly as shown/described in the auction as well.

Thanks for the review. I'm finally about to pick up the entire run on DVD (have them on compressed .MPGs atm), and I think I've asked this before, but for some reason the forum search isn't working at all, so I can't find where I asked it. (even putting "transformers" in search yields no results)
But why exactly are the Rhino DVD's so expensive on Amazon, eBay, etc.? Aren't the Rhino ones the ones with the added sound effects in some episodes that people don't like? If importing the Chinese entire run is cheaper than buying a Rhino partial season, why doesn't everyone do it?

Some people are not informed of these facts.

Hmm.. I wouldn't see how they couldn't be, it comes up on an eBay search just like the Rhino ones do. And you'd think the Chinese set would be priced a little higher since the Rhinos go for so much.
*shrug* If there's no reason why the Rhino DVD's would be more desirable, I guess it will just have to be an unsolved mystery
Thanks for the reply
