how is the trailer going to factor into the merged mode? is it just going to strap on as a shild, provide connections for thearms, bulk out the body? or is just going to join primes trailer at the country club?

I think he mentioned that trailer wasn't going to be part of the gestalt at all; it's just getting the base mode.

it won't go to subspace if that's what you mean. It turns into a city-base. IE has buildings, runway, turrets, helipad, etc. Seems to me that'd be pretty handy in a battle to have a staging area, extra major weapons, a nearby jail, etc doncha think?

I don't have much to update this time, unfortunately, working in 100+ heat with 60%+ humidity has kicked my ass the last two days. I did get the prime mold fully disassembled in preparation for dying and then painting though he still is waiting for his MM head. I need to do some really minor putty work so that the appropriate limbs have visors and a faceplate too, but that part won't take long and can wait till after the dye bath which since I'm off work tomorrow, I plan to do.

I got all but one of the hotrod molds fully disassembled today. talk about a lot of damned rivets! *L* I also got the paint aps removed from prime, 1 hotrod, and downshift. I ran out of time before I could get them off mirage, but he won't take long anyway. so, looks like tomorrow I'll take apart the 1 last tf remaining assembled, who's easy btw, and remove the paint from him and mirage, so while I didnt' get to dye today, I should be able to do it tomorrow.

I have to confess that the only individual that I completely worked out the paintscheme was for motormaster and the drones *L* so once everything is dyed I'll sit down with photoshop and use my reference pictures I downloaded to get that stuff all worked out before I move on to actual painting. I have general stuff in my head, just not all the specifics.

I have to say my room has never been more of a mess than it is now LOL I have 5 piles of pieces and screws and pins and rivets right now, and I still have to take apart the second mirage mold!

this project will very soon start coming together and stop looking like a hodge-podge group of autobots, thank goodness! Hard to believe that I've already put in 2 full months and havn't even painted anything yet!

Blimey. Personally, I usually can't resist starting the painting before I've finished the modelling. I know I shouldn't, but I have no self-control...

Sometimes I have a hard time getting myself to want to paint my customs. I get so used to their colors and start to think they actually look kinda neat. They always end up looking better painted of course, but I put off painting for as long as I can.

I like painting, I just don't like fully disassembling the damned things, especially pins and rivets!

Here's some pictures. you can see that some parts took the dye better than others. my main goal was to get parts that would have high wear get dyed to not have to worry about that. I ended up wasting a pair of cyb downshift guns, top parts of prime, and one prime forearm and leg  I found out that putty dyes really well, while styrene doesn't dye worth **** :( hotrod dyes well, cyb downshift doesn't really dye AT ALL. damnit. anyway, looks like tomorrow I'll be pirating parts off the other extra prime I have (was supposed to be for a nemesis paint but guess not now), re-drilling holes in the forearm to connect downshift or hotrod either one, and drilling a hole in the one prime leg for connecting either mirage or hotrod. while I'm at it, I'll put a visor on mirage and a visor and face-plate on the other hotrod.

I think between that and digibashing the arm bots that will do me for the day *L*

If the parts aren't physically damaged, and the dye just didn't take, just paint the parts. You shouldn't have to cannibalize parts form another toy to replace them if there is no structural damage.

oh they're damaged. the leg parts shrank, and the forearm parts splayed, and the top of the cab piece just warped. I got these off the extra magnus today and I reapplied the mods to the forearm and the hole by the foot for the knee connector, so I'm where I should be again.

My trailer showed up in the mail today!! :rock Its a 1:43 scaled model trailer... fully chromed, has opening doors and the jack even flips up/down. I've used a lot of elbow grease getting rid of the tacky flames on the sides. I used alcohol and cotton swabs. I found that you need to wipe off the alcohol pretty quick to keep from rubbing off the chrome, but I managed to pull it off. there was a blemish on one side (black plastic shows through) but the stripes might end up covering that, I hope.

I will have do do some slight mods to get it to not just sit on the legs but clear for full turning radius.

Look closely at the refrigeration unit, you can even see the fans are detailed in there:

Nice trailer. You might want to copy how I created the hitch for my custom Ultra Magnus armor using 9mm square tubing. and smaller tubing inside of that to make a hitch with a built-in axis.

Actually, I didn't have to do much at all. I drilled a tiny little hole in the big square peg in the center of the rear portion of the semi tractor, the trailer's metal pin fits perfectly in there. I barely had to shave one part of the underside of the trailer to clear the feet, and for the kneepads, just flip them up so they're vertical behind the smokestacks.

I got a lot of work done today :D

The yellow is a little brighter than I'd have preferred, but its Fusion, and I decided I'd rather have the toughness of that over the slightly darker shade of a more fragile paint.

Not what I would have done, because it requires structural modification to the figure, but this is Motormaster, which means other mods are gonna be necessary anyway. IF you are planning on another trailer for Prime, i recommend using my method, becasue that doesn't require any mods to the truck at all.

Redline set the figure on a dealer table while he was looking at something and forgot to pick it up again.

Also, I certainly agree and think it's even worse to steal a custom or steal from a custom than it is to steal a mass-produced toy. It's still wrong either way but it hurts the individual a lot more than it does a toy company.
