Non transforming transformer toys.
My Opinion: Non-transforming transformers are a crap waste of plastic. They may as well be a star wars figure. The point of the franchise is toys that change from robot to inanimate object as a disguise. Why would I want to shell out my hard earned british pounds on a toy from this range where you cant change its shape?

So, can anyone supply an example of a Transformer toy that is:
a) non-transforming.
b) good.
c) worth time and effort to aquire.

Revoltech Prime?
Bluebullet

exact

Postby Jestermon » Wed Feb 28, 2007 6:32 pm

And Revoltech Magnus, in short there are alot of toys that are non transforming Transformer toys that are great, the Action Masters were a great representation of the cartoon version of the characters prior to the PVC figures of today, The decoys were also kind of a stepping stone that would eventually lead to the PVCs(forgot if AM or Decoys were first), HOCs which are the culmination of our love for the decoys but are more detailed and great for a desk, 3 inch titaniums, not necessarily finely painted, but neither are the other mainline characters now either(Cybertron, Alts, Classics) all the paint sucks on the figures these days, the Revoltechs have far better paint aps then any of the U.S. released Transformers.

Also, a challenge to you convince me that all the Transformer toys that do Transform are fantastic, I would rather have more non transforming Transformer toys with nice designs or new characters then having one transforming Transformer toy that is not good.

I mean there are plenty of Transforming Transformer toys that they spend money for design and such and they still have lacking areas. I mean they sometimes make toys now that have less articulation then older toys, on some toys these days they have the ability to do more but just do not, so in short, it is nice to have cheaper well designed, not heavily utilized characters to mix in with your other transforming Tranformers toys.

I love my Mega SFC Starscream. He doesn't transform but he represents a G1 accurage looking Starscream. I enjoy him and he is one of my favourite toys.

if you don't mind spending on non-official toys the quintesson KOs that recently showed up are the best non-transforming toy I've seen yet. Seibertron has pictures of them on the site and in his Sig.

Definate must for any fan of G1 characters.

But not if they are supposed to Transform. Then they are just figures and that not what i want to collect. Transformers are toys that can be played with and changed from a robot to a car/gun/jet etc, that what i want to buy. The Actionmasters never did it for me for that very reason and the the AM-specific characters just come across as the cripples of the TF universe.
Still not convinced.

And revoltech prime might look nice, but its pointless if it cant also be a truck. Why not just get a masterpeice?

Now that does interest me.

look up in the Toy gallery the Quintesson under the G1 category and Seibertron has many pictures of it.

Great quality figure it was made by some company in china. Usually can find one on ebay.

I love the figure and it looks great with the classics.

im not a fan of transformers that dont transform, but the reason i love tfs and have for going on 23 years, is the characters themselves. i do have a couple action masters in my displays. starscream megatron and optimus

my question to you is, why do you want convincing? just like any other tf line since the begining, either like them, or dont. theres enough diffrent choices and series out there, that if you dont wanna spend you money on one, that for gods sakes dont.

personaly, i want the revoltech optimus and megatron. but i dont think theyre worth paying twice what i pay for other revoltech figures. reason i want them is, weather they change or not, theyre cool figures.

of course, i also collect a few other things besides transformers

ninja turtles, g i joe, heman microman, marvel just to name a few. i just love tf the most and have 10x them as i do the others.

i need to update my tf count too, its waaaaay off.

Why do people assume that others care to convince them of anything? I see the same garbage in Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 forums. People asking the members to convince them that they need to buy these things.

Frankly the day I need someone to convince me to buy something is the day I stop buying those things. Realistically if this is something your not interested in no amount of fan gushing over it will make you enjoy it more. Like i tell people asking about the PS3 look at the games. If they intrigue you get it if not don't. Same with non-transforming Transformers. If they intrigue you and you think you can live with out the transformation then get it. If not then don't save your money and buy something more valuable to you.

If on the other hand the question is why would people get these things? Well thats easy, because they find enjoyment in them. Me personally I have no love for the non-transforming Transformer. The Quints are one thing since they were never meant to transform in the first place. But things like actionmasters, meh. I would rather have a decent representation of the character that can transform than an ultra perfect non-transforming replica of the cartoon model. But thats me. Others might want that highly detailed, ultra perfect, super articulated cartoon model.

Starscream, Megs, Prime, and others gave up their ability to Transform so they could drive cars, tanks, motorcycles, jets, etc...; It was one of the stupidest and most poorly explained gimmicks of all time.

The excuse:

Prime: "Who will join me? Who will give up their ability to transform to become better, faster, more alive?"

Jazz: "I will!

Other Autobot: "Me too!"

From what I've seen so far, Revoltech Megatron is probably the absolute BEST non-transforming figure in TF history, and as far as I'm concerned, well worth a purchase when it comes out. Revoltech Convoy and Magnus are great, too (just bought Convoy, it's shipping now!)

the action masters was one of the reasons I got out of TFs as a kid. G2 sorta got me back but then the goofy repaints turned me off again. Beast wars was the same for me. It was a good show now that i've seen it, but it wasn't transformers for me.

I missed RiD when it was on and cameback for the armada line. Considering what I had seen to that point I did like it, but Classics is what really hooked me back.

I share the sentiment that non-TF TFs aren't that great--the only exceptions being characters released in a line that really aren't TFs to begin with, like in Energon: Alpha-Q and Kicker. I have those two because the collection feels complete with them. A lot of fans hated their addition to the line, but it completely fits with the story that was created for that particular part of the TF universe; so I didn't have a problem with them.

I, myself, see no point in the 3" titanium line, the HOC line, or other small homage lines like these. I suppose if you MUST see a TF in every room of your house but don't want to overpower the rest of your room decorations, they could come in handy...

I can understand why people like the Revoltech Convoy/Magnus as the figure is detailed, but I wouldn't want one. All it'll do is sit there. I like having a figure that transforms part of the fun comes from figuring out how they fit a robot in a car or F-15.

Depends on how much you like the character in my opinion. I have the Soundwave statue from a few years back and it was my only non transforming TF up until I bought Revoltech Prime/Magnus. I loved it because it was a wonderful looking Soundwave posed just the way I would want him posed. When I display a transformer it stays that way for a very long time. I like the Revoltechs because you can change the way they are posed more then you can a normal transformer. Not too many transformers can stand in a Mauy Tahi stance, and that to me is worth every penny.

To me non Transforming Transformers figures are merely an "anime" perspective. I only buy some so I can have accurate representation of the cartoon character which the G1 toy just could not provide.
Also I mean the whole figure not just a bust, that's just completely useless :P
And that is why I bought the heroes of Cybertron and really like those Mega SCF Transformers.
But I can see how if someone doesn't like the show than they would have no desire to buy cartoon accurate mini-figures.

That is why I collect so many non transforming variations of Starscream. I have 3 statues, 1 titanium figure, several PVC figures and some vintage collectables. I like the character and for me, whether or not he transforms is beside the point. I collect very few other transformers. I have Skywarp and Thundercracker and a couple others, but for the most part. Starscream is the reason Why I am in the fandom.

Heck I have posters and a painting of him on my wall. :D and right now, wearing a shirt with him on it. Obsessed!
