Bad covers:
Madonna -American Pie (Don McLean) Actually, I haven't heard this one, but I know it exists and that's enough for me

Also, I heard David Lee Roth do what seemed like a country version of, if I remember right, Beautiful Girls (Since he wasn't with Van Halen at the time, I don't know if that counts as a cover or remix, though it was done live), which was just awful.

They made the song the way it was supposed to be, and the cover is OK up to the point where he screams the lyrics then it sucks.

I don't listen to much cover music (unless I'm not paying attention and don't know it is from the get go.)

but my favorite covers are:

Land Of Confusion- Disturbed (it's like that song was made for them.)

Light My Fire- Jose Feliciano (so smooth and easy)

True- will.i.am & Fergie. (Spandau Ballet's version is an immortal classic, but this cover is terrific.)

and I'm sure I'm missing a few others.

I think someone mentioned video game music. One of my favorites would be Riders On The Storm (Fredwreck remix)- Snoop Dogg & The Doora from NFS: Underground 2

In the reverse, Trivium did an amazing cover of Master.
(Abscence of Cliff aside)

Killswitch's cover of Holy Diver is amazing, but for the record, Dio is some sort of God.

Nonpoint's cover of In the Air Tonight is great, better htan the original.

And my band's cover of For Whom the Bell Tolls is great because my bass takes over the guitar parts. :lol:
