Oh, Windcharger. I'm the only one who ever remembers your noble, off-screen sacrifice.

Also; if we're going to bring comics into this, Shockwave was blasted clean in half by Unicron in the IDW animated movie adaptation.

Shapnel and Kickback who is still alive are the clones.

Also, what about Rhinox, he died for his betraital, but his famous fart will live on, for we may still smell it and laugh ourselves to death.

Perceptor survived the movie assault, and didn't die in any further G1 incarnations. Wheeljack must have had a strong spark/lasercore, as he looked to be pretty decimated.

Seeing as Shrapnel had sole control over the Insecticon clones, he would still have to be alive. He and Kickback both appeared in 5 faces, as well as Fight or Flee.

Uh, Wheeljack was dead. The Japanese cartoons are a different continuity after Season 3, remember? They didn't use The Rebirth, and they didn't get the Movie until '89, so they didn't know Wheeljack was dead.

I understand the continuity issue. However, he most certainly was in the episode. And there was no mention of him while the Autobots were mucking about in the space crpyt. One might assume that he was in stasis for the duration of season 3?

Given that we didn't see him in the crypt, a case could be made that he surrvived the raid on Autobot City and was in stasis lock.
And before you say it, I know he was supposed to be dead, I'm just saying ther's enough here to argue it.

Problem being, stasis lock and stasis weren't invented until Beast Wars, IIRC. I don't recall Stasis , the term, or the concept having being thought up behind the brilliant minds behind Transformers until Beast Wars, rather. And the Japanese just cocked up. They got Dark Awakening- They know who died, like Prowl, etc yet there's Prowl, alive and well in Headmasters.

So much for makeing myself clear. :P
I know what your saying, but I think that from what we see, he might have been simply wonded.
There's no defending Prowl, though.

Gah, mah bad. But yeah, Wheeljack and Windcharger didn't look too dead to me. I mean, all they had were some superficial scratches to their chests.

Windcharger looked pretty well demolished. Not Ironhide demolished, but roughed up all the same. I know that's pretty subjective.

In one of the first Marvel Comics(the one with the first appearence of the Robot Master guy), Megatron simply shuts down when his energon depletes. I think we may call that Stasis Lock.

Con's get killed more than Bots. But when Bots die, it's usually done to sad music to make it easier to remember.

Not counting the sudden deaths of the Bots aboard the shuttle bound for Earth in the G1 movie.

Yeah, well it's a standard technique, isn't it? bBd guy gets killed, it's a "Meh" moment. Good guy gets killed, the director, or whatever goes all out to make sure it's as cheesily sad as possible.

Prowl was clipped by that useless Constructicon, Scavenger (but I do like Scavy)... He didn't get his little moment... Just some smoke coming out of his optics and mouth and the coolest song on the Transformers soundtrack crankin' to the Autobot's arse kicking...

The Autobots on the shuttle should have had better endings. I know they did it to change the toy line, and there is limited time in an animated movie, but heroes shouldn't die so easily (or off screen at all).

Still, it was a shock that so many characters died in the movie after there were virtually no deaths before that. May I list them again?

Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Brawn
Huffer (possibly Hound, Sunstreaker, Bluestreak) by Lookout Mountain
Wheeljack, Windcharger, Red Alert (cut scene), and some others in Autobot City
Gears and others unspecified from Moonbases
possibly Shockwave and Laserbeak on Cybertron
Skywarp, Thundercracker, Insecticons, Megatron (reformatted instead of killed)
Starscream (vaporized), Reflector (lost in space)

Of course, characters have died in other series (esp. Beast Wars), but I'm not as familiar with most of the newer series.

If you're talking about the new movie, Bablyon Queen, then yes, more Decepticons died. Most of us fans (and many non-fans) don't like seeing any of the brave Autobot heroes die. There were too few of them in the new movie anyway. The Decepticons were clearly the bad guys, and they had to be stopped. They insisted on fighting to the death, so death is what they received. I'm glad that a few survived, but I would have been upset if more Autobots had died.

Uh, dude, unless they actually died on camera, they aren't dead. Well, other than Huffer, who's death is mentioned. Any cut scenes or whatever don't count. The only dead characters were Brawn, Ironhide, Ratchet, Prowl, Huffer, Prime, Wheeljack, Windcharager, Megatron, Starscream, Shrapnel, Kickback, Bombshell, Thundercracker and Skywarp. Hell, Laserbeak didn't die, he was shown in Warworld. Unless there's official word they died, they didn't die.

Some Autobots from the moonbases were eaten by Unicron (not counting Jazz, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee, and Spike, who survived). It's hard to tell which ones are falling into the acid vat, but the one that looks like Fitor from the Go-Bots is reported to be Gears.

Ah, it's cool. Maybe we'll be able to finally put this debate to rest. Just maybe. lol

What about Bluestreak, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, etc.. If they didn't die (some fans assume they're alive because we didn't see them get killed), then what happened to them?

The body design of Wheeljack was used but I doubt its the same character.

If I'm right in the Japanese version of G1 Wheeljack was not givven a different name like some of the others in the Japanese Transformers. But in the scripts for Victory the character useing his design was called Lancia Stratos.
