It makes them white out and leads to anxiety and paranoia.

Or it's good for short bursts but depletes their energy levels rather quickly, causing them to 'crash'.

What exactly is a white out? And Starscream didn't crash...he just got his aft kicked. He didn't make it to that point?

My thoughts- I love the cliff hanger at the end. I'm really looking forward to picking up issue 2, since it seems the Autobots' attempt to remain incognito is about to flushed down the toilet.

You know, I always end but getting the comics late, but here's my ideas for issue 2:

I hate it when you guys type in Fing white!! It hurts my eyes so, but I can't help but read the comments you all make on the comics. So it's such a terrible situation. 'S cool, cuz I just got paid and after work (T-minus 26 minutes) I'm going to the record store to see if they have the new Darkthrone CD. And, I have monday off. Go Columbus Day.

This is my understanding of Ore 13. It makes the user far stronger and powerful while using it, but not invincible (as Starscream showed) but it also depletes quicker than the same amount of Energon, and leaves the user completely empty of Resources once depleted. Thats why Prime was able to defeat Thunderwing in Stormbringer.

Leonardo wrote:Why is Starscream's infiltration unit on Earth in the first place? I can't remember.

Same reason for being on any planet, to use the planet for Energon, and then leave it a barren husk. Starscream and his unit just managed to come across Ore 13.

If someone didn't want spoiled about the first issue of Devastation, shouldn't they avoid a thread with the title this one has?

Not everyone is that smart...

Do you think that all of Hounds crew will be coming to Earth? Or will we only be seeing the important players of Hound and Sideswipe?

Excellent issue. We're seeing a lot of plot threads tie together. I like the idea that several Decepticons perceive Starscream as useful for his willingness to stand up to Megs.

I stupidly started another thread, for some reason this one has escaped me for 3 days!!

:-?

Well, I actually do care. It started off with a bang! The set up has been 12+ issues and we are now seeing more pay off.

Sixshot. I wonder who would win in a fight between himself and Megatron. I say pump them both full of Ore-13 Energon and let them go at it. Sixshot doesn't seem to care though. He relishes the role he has, and even enjoys it as we've seen.

Hot Rod. The likeness to Sideburn in alt mode aside, he is becoming the more carefree youth that most of us are used to. He seems no worse for wear from Nightbeat's beating, and doesn't remember it either. Covers and previews for issues to come show that his life is quickly going to get a lot more exciting.

Starscream. We now see where the old lieutenant has been 'hanging out' and he seems to be no worse for wear either, except he needs to be released from his suspended animation. And it looks like the triple changers of all 'cons are going to do just that--I would have thought it would have been Thundercracker and Skywarp--but the whole group of cons seems a bit upset. It does leave us the question of who the hanging head/shoulders was with the Machination people?

Ravage. Being used by his human group to track Transformers. Re-conditioning suits him well, they've not only reconditioned him to be loyal to them (apparently), but they've also reconditioned him from a jaguar (stealthy, sneeky, spying) to a bluetick bloodhound complete with 'bawl/howl of a hound on the trail'! Apparently Laserbeak is to come--he was mentioned, but not used yet. Wonder what animal he will become? It's always been a bit ambiguous anyway though, so they could turn him into a hawk, condor, eagle, pretty much any bird of prey, and he'd be okay. Now if he's a Hummingbird, I quit.

Autobots. Being spied upon, duh. Finally decided to scout around to see if anyone's been looking at you? Apparently they did not realize most humans park their cars in garages or structures, and not at the bottom of lakes. And now we are moving from Lake Michigan to the Gulf Coast. Perhaps we need a different idea than underwater somewhere...oh yeah they never make it anyway because Sixshot trashed the Ark--by himself!!! So long suckers...

Sideswipe/Hound/and crew... Thankfully, Sideswipe's calls whining to ol' leader 'bot himself have annoyed Prime enough to give the boring work to Jetfire, and let Sideswipe have his way, and bring along his (well actually Hound's) squad to back up Prime. Good choice Prime, but it looks like they got there a little late.

I'm hoping for a Sideswipe-Sunstreaker/Sixshot fight, but I think we will see the unavoidable Sideswipe versus Sunstreaker (brother vs. brother) fight first.

Someone please give Prowl something to do other than repeat Prime's orders.

Still looking forward to Shockwave and the Dinobots please, hopefully????

Hot Rod was already pretty dinged up from the firefight when he was pulled out. While it's safe to assume that Nightbeat killed the facsimalie it doesn't come across to me like he did anything more to Hot Rod than bang him into CR so that he'd be out of the way.

I'm betting that Hound and Sideswipe are the only survivors from Hounds team, the rest of them will be cannon fodder to Sixshot.

I've only just reading this series myself (got all of Infilitration and Escalation two weeks ago and read them, plus Stormbringer yesterday and I've been picking up Spotlights as I find them) but I gotta say I love how its going. I really like the feeling how the situation keeps falling further and further out of control with each issue.

Anyway, Devastation 1 is for sure a great issue. I like how Astrotrain seems to be coming across as being a Starscream loyalist of sorts since he seems to be doubting Megatron's actions. I'm really starting to wonder if there will be a full blown shooting war between the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth before Devastation is out.

I really think they disembodied head we say in Escalation could be Soundwave since he was mentioned to be up to something in past issues. Also I think the fact that Laserbeak and Ravage being on Earth may also be evidence of this since they had to get there somehow.

A question I had while reading other posts. Did the end of Escalation seem to hint at the fact that Nightbeat was the one who killed the Facsimile that Hot Rod capture? I missed Spotlight Galvatron and can't find it so I know nothing of this chip implanted in his head. I also think that the pretenders, headmasters, and gestalts will make their appearances as a result of Jetfire looking into Thunderwings lab. Perhaps he actually finds ways to control the technologies and prevents people from going insane when they use them.

Also, since I've been playing catch up with all of the Furman comics (love the universe he is creating) does anyone else get the feeling that the spotlights, Infilitration/escalation/Devastation and Stormbringer are parts of a much bigger puzzle? That there is a bigger story that their all elading up to?

We know Soundwave is on Earth. The Soundwave Spotlight made that clear. He is in alt mode lock, and last we saw he was in an 80's memorabilia/antigues shop. So the disembodied head should not be him. More than likely it has something to do with Scorponok, as he was developing hm tech, in the ultra magnus spotlight, and we all know that there are hm's in this series.

We do have larger theories abounding. Check this out.

http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9777&sid=

As you can see we have been working on theories and tying the comics all together already.

If you are having a difficult time locating the individual spotlights in comic book stores, just try to get the TPB in a regular book store. You'll already have two of them, but you'll have some of the others, and it'll only leave Soundwave, Kup, and Galvatron left. Soundwave is really good, and I can't recommend Kup enough!

Dagnabbit! Kup's is the only 1 I don't have.

Awe well. Devastation #1 was good. Sixshot's mild confusion was great, as was Sideswipe finally getting his way. The art also seems to have taken a step up, not that it was bad before. I'm not sure if it's a new inker or colourist or both (mainly because I'm too lazy to check right now) or just that everyone's a bit more comfortable working on the book now, but I get a much more cartoon/G1 comic vibe from it, whilst still having the details and more realistic style of the previous chapters. The profile pic of Prowl on the double page with Sixshot hitting the Arc is bloody fantastic.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Excellent start to this part of the story. I'm very excited to have Hound and Sideswipe on their way to Earth. Sixshot shows, once again, why he's a "Stage 6"er and devastates (sorry) the Autobots. And I'm really looking forward to seeing Hot Rod and Ratchet taking on those Sunstreakers!! I'm happy to see Optimus tire of being on the defensive and always being REactive to the Decepticons. It's too bad that he's got more to worry about than just Megatron and his group. The Machination and Skywatch seem like they're about to make their big push.

Yeah, I know Galvatron only killed one (Leadfoot) in his Spotlight, but I think that when Hound's team arrives on Earth, Sixshot will decimate Hounds Crew, with only Hound and Sideswipe surviving.

I'd like to see some Wheeljack ingenuity in upcoming issues, he has had the least to do so far in the "-tion" books.

Wodicus wrote:I'm really starting to wonder if there will be a full blown shooting war between the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth before Devastation is out.

I'm wondering if there is going to be a Decepticon vs. Decepticon vs. Autobot vs. Reapers battle in Devastation, or if Furman will back out and just have a Cybertronians vs. Reapers battle instead.

I enjoyed the issue, I can't wait for the rest of the series.

I think you're reading in the whole "Why did Megs keep SS" alive.

My understanding is, Megs respects Star Scream as a fighter, and while he can best him in a fight, he is good to have around.

He is/ was a leader of the Infiltration unit, so he must be high in the pecking order.

He may be the leader of the seekers. No point in keeping Thunder cracker and Skywarp there if he isn't.

Plus Megs can best Starscream when ever he tries to take leadership. When he wins, he sends a clear message. "Go against me, and this is what happens"

My guess is, he really didn't care if Star Scream lived or died. Remember what he said back in issue 6 "Put him in the CR chamber. If he lives so be it" I'm paraphasing but you get my point.

I'm leaning on agreeing with Matt D about SS and Megs. big silver seems to have a survival of the fittest mentality and considered Screamer among the fit list. For him to survive a fight with Megs, and his showing in the Megs origins, there is probably a slight sentimentality involved as well. I know this isn't DW but there profile on Starscream by Megatron also leans this way.
