I know these guys clashed twice. Once in that episode, Heavy Metal War and once in movie. To me, their fights were too short and they had me wanting more! So... who takes it?

And destroy the planet in the process. The Beast was unpredictable and more destructive. He'd do more damage then good. Plus since he was borderline fan fiction I don't really count him towards canon even though technically he should be.

What ZeroZero was asking was in a straight up fight who would win. I'd have to say the edge goes to the Constructicons based on sheer numbers. 6 on 5 should beat the Dinobots. Although the Dinobots are the more cohesive unit Sludge and Snarl are dumber then a sack of hammers. The Constructicons might be outclassed in terms of strength as individual robots but they were always considered six of the brightest minds on Cybertron. Devastator was second only in terms of power (of the American G1 Gestalts) to the mighty Predaking. I see Devastator taking the Dinobots down one by one starting with the weakest and most likely to be taken out Swoop.

The death of their comrade would enrage the remaining dinobots. They'd attempt a rally but it would be far too late. Sludge and Snarl would fall before Devastator leaving only Slag and Grimlock. Neither are powerful enough to take out the combined force of the Constructions and they too would be shunted into terminal stasis lock. I do see the Dinobots as more then likely taking one or more of the Constructions with them for the dirt nap, but the numbers game comes into play. The remaining Constructions would slaughter Grimlock and Slag and mourn their fallen comrades.

I disagree. After the Dinobots wreck devastator into constructicons, the number doesn't count. Even two of the dinobots can take on lightly the whole team of the constructicons, and if the two remaining is Grimlock and Slag, the constructicons are finished.

Devastator wins this. Devastator has proven on more than one occasion that he is capable of besting the Dinobots in combat.

I'm thinking any two constructicons could take in one dinobot save grimlock that said any on dinobot could take any one constructicon. even as a 5 on 6 the dinobots are favored unles the gestalt team is scailed closer to there vehicle modes. (ie the sam heigh as Slugde) As Devestator provide Grimlock, and maybe Swoop, go down the provided smarter teamwork of the dinobots would be lost leaving Snarl to deal with a solar power based rifle, Slag to melt the floor to there feet, and Sluge to trip Devestator in the hopes of seperating the gestalt.

The combiner is pretty strong but i think the dinobots could weather the brunt long enough to seperate them again. If the the combiner is forced to seperate the remaining dinobots would thrash the remaining constructicons. It all depends on the effectiveness of the Devestator and the size of his members.

i think this fight is prett close ot 50/50. the dinobots are more than the consturticons can handle, and even if they went, they arnt part of the fight. if the dinobots can cause devastator to seperate its i win for them, its a fight with devastator afterall, not his components.

i think the movie is pretty close to how this fight would go. the dinobots can survive devastators raw power, but its going to cause them some serious damage. and the dinobots dont have the direct blunt force of drvastator, but they can damage him. so with the 5 of them wearing him down and the one of him giving them all a serious beating i think when its all over devastator would be down, and most or all the dinobots would be too. or devastator might be left standing, but probably in no condition to do anything other than stagger home. whoever wins is going to be in bad enough shape that it could nearly be called a draw anyway.

In dinosaur form the dinobots are pretty impervious and are superior warriors to the Constructicons.

The Constructicons are only any good collectively as Devastator, but he was hardly Brains of Britain.

My moneys on the dinos to win.

It's quite likely that Devastator could defeat the Dinobots in a straight fight. However...

The Dinobots all have energo swords that could damage Devastator. Grimlock's jaws are no joke. Slag's flames are hotter than the smelting pool. Sludge's weight can crush parts of Devastator.

The Dinobot's secret weapon is Snarl, who can absorb tremendous energy from the Sun. With a full charge, he becomes TEN TIMES STRONGER THAN USUAL. He might be able to defeat Devastator on his own, if he does it quickly enough before his power boost fades. Maybe that's why they left him out of the 1986 movie!
