Does MP Megs make you respect your toys less?

Just got done transforming MPmegs again, and the amount of man-handling needed to get him into alt mode kind of concerns me. Because now I have this "if it won't fit, just force it" mentality, and other mortal TF's can't take that kind of brute force! LC

Nope but Mp Megatron is a real dissapointment to me. Got him last week. The connector tabs on his thigh plates ,and trigger connector tabs should of been better. Takara could of done better.

Never transformer him those small weak plastic pegs break way too easily. Takara needs to address these issues on both Mp Megatron, Starscream and other future Masterpieces.

I remember just posing MP Megs was a frustration in itself. The ball joints in his feet just aren't going to last, and he's too top-heavy to hold his balance (especially with cannon).

Some metal in the legs would've done wonders. Metal is less likely to stress, and it'd give him the weight he vitally needs below his center of gravity.

Optimus Prime is just so solid. When you hold him, you feel like the only damage that could be done to him would be cosmetic (chipped paint, scratches, etc.). They need to bring that back. Problem is, I think they're too hung up on older Transformers fans who like complex transformations. That's fine, and I like them too, but these last two new molds have been relatively flimsy and the complex transformations are compromising their integrity. What's the point of having a complex transformation if everyone is afraid to transform it?

But I've heard Mp Optimus Prime is weak on the knees. Heard stories of people putting him on top of a shelf ,and once it falls off the knee's two metal pistons break easily. Making Prime's knee instantly come right off.

Both primes knees and ankles have issues. I know mine has a tendancy to loose his feet on occasion, and I've had his knees buckle once or twice. Its scary watching your big heavy $100 figure decide to jsut drop. I did a little tweaking on him with clear nail polish and he's good an stable now. I still watch him and check out his leg joints every couple of weeks jsut to be sure. But even when he has fallen it hasn't damaged him, he's built very well.

Starscream is pretty fragile, and though I love the complexity of his Transformation I've only TFed him twice since I got him. Megatron is the same way. I agree that some metal in his legs would have added much needed weight and help his balance and over all stability.

My MP Optimus prime version 01 is in perfect form and has never, and i repeat, never wafted in his stance.. ever!!

that said i can agree that some joints are kinda weak, maybe I got the better version or something... in either case.. I agree that some improvements could have been done..

like for instance in MP starscream, his head having to be pushed back in orderfor it to fit into the bot mode, makes me feel like I'm gonna break him, along with the wings folding back in jet to robot mode, which scares me to death... MP megatron has issues in shoulder, and back support category if you ask me, the ball joints should have been in diecast..as well as most of the frame, same with MP starscream..

I skipped Mp Starscream. I've heard plenty of horror stories of the low quality breakable plastic, the wings ,and his back kibble and hip kibble. His legs don't pose well. Including that you can't even stand him straight without using the display stand that he comes with. I've had Mp Megatron almost two weeks now and broke two small pegs already. One in the left thigh plate ,and the weaker smaller first connector peg up top the right trigger halve. Even the older g1 Megatron is better quality than this. Despite of his lack of articulation ,and that it doesn't look like the anime one. Due to his microman toy coming out 10 years before in Japan.

Its not that its low quality plastic, its that its thinner more brittle plastic. Its closed to whats used in high quality model kits and some of the expensive Macross figures then whats used on your average mainline TF. And he actually stands fine without the stand, he jsut can't do alot of posing that way since he's a little hard to balance in anything other then a straight standing pose. Megatron really has all the same issues as Starscream.

Though as with Screamer I don't know how people keep breaking them, I may have only TFed my Starscream twice back and forth, but he has no stress marks, nothings broken. He's not as sturdy as a mainline figure, but he's not exactly made of glass either. You jsut have to pay attention to what your doing and not try to force things to much. They both jsut have such complex transformations that you have to do everything in the exact right order or things get tight or get caught and cause issues. There is no leeway like you have with any other average figure. If you don't follow the instructions its not going to work.

I am happy with Megatron, and StarScream...but with Megatron, I'm afraid that years down the road, he's going to develop similar problems that the G1 toy had...namely the legs not being able to support him and collapsing. The arms also kinda concern me...those tiny sliders....

Believe it or not, I put mine back into its box and keeping it there for a while XD

It does scare me, I transformed him at least 5 times and I feel like I am loosening him and he will soon become a worthless robot that falls apart easily.

This thread just depresses me. It seems that Takaka/Tomy can't do anything right.

I've had no issues with the Transformation of my Megatron, his stability is fine and nothing has broken or snapped off him.

Ditto.

I think he will be the least transformed peice in my collection, cause he IS rather difficult.
But he is a fantastic representation of G1 Megatron.
He is an excelent feat of engineering (just as starscream was, and Prime... well prime was conciderablly simpler in all fairness).
Only thing that really bugs me about megs is that my hands aint really big enough to actully use his gun mode...

Oversized alt mode + small hands = operational problems.

#1) I have my Prime on a lower shelf in ol' display cabinet.

#2) I kind of like Hasbro's 20th Anniverary DVD Edition Optimus Prime a little more than Takara's MP-01.

Tentagil I hope you don't experience it yourself. I do know how to transform Mp Megatron perfectly. It's just the small pegs are of weak plastic and they break too easily.

I heard about Megatron's elbows breaking from a thread on the TFW2005 forums. I looked for some kind of metal band to put on his joints so they could hold the plastic together, even if it does break. I didn't find any in the right size or shape, but when I looked in a hobby shop I found some aluminum tape in the art section. I was wondering, would that be strong enough to hold the plastic in place?

I am happy to say, I took a chance and transformed MP Megatron like 6 times, no breakage and no stress marks, elbows stable, pegs still attached, handle fit exactly into place, no extra pushing needed.. It looks like i got a nice version, very well put together.. that said i still get nervous if the ceiling fan blows air in his direction...

Well you've been lucky so far. But don't over do it with transforming him too much. In time the smallest upper connector peg on the right trigger halve might snap at some point. I didn't even forced it. But did force the right thigh plate peg when transforming him back to robot the second time.

I have been tempted but I shall definately pass.

I don't play with my MP-03 too much but I do pose them from time to time. I have not had any issues with him other than the needing the stand issue. Well that and his hands are a touch too tiny to hold the megatron gun. Sounds like Screamer has the same issues as Redimus. Heh, I wonder if I am the only one who posed screamer breaking megatron over his knee :P
