I really hope so. The exclusive diaclone versions were only said to have a different micron and paintjob. I dont mind the microns being included, but not to replace traditional weapons. Are the pics you are talking about with guns and swords of the non chrome sludge ?

1st page with the prototypes show Not-Swoop with a sword in hand and gun on hip. Both the promo pics for Not-Sludge and Not-Slag show red swords and black guns so... pretty sure they come with those in addition to the minicons.

I can confirm that Sludge does indeed come with a red translucent sword, rifle with bayonet along with the weapon guy (not quite sure what weapon to class him as) who get's a little axe and shield to play with.

Some people have bad sludges? The QC on his is terrible! those Hips!! reminds me of defenders knees... skip ahead to 12:40

Most of what I have read is very positive, tightening up a couple ball-and-socket joints is very easy (still disappointing, but easy).

Watched this last night and those legs are really loose it's such a shame since the figure is so nice .

I'm waiting on TW let's see what happens there .

Swoop's looking good. Also glad to see he's properly sleek and streamlined, so hopefully his Pteranodon mode won't be a flying brick.

The more I see not-Slag the more I like him.

im surprised swoops got the red torso. if they were going to continue with the diaclone chromey versions, you figure theyd reserve the red torso for him and make his regular release with a blue torso.

I'd allready decided to pass on these guys but this kinda confirms it, a lot of money to drop if you get these kind of problems.

Decided to pass on these a few days after news broke of these. Just thought the price was kinda high for what you got. Didn't like being forced to buy a Two pack when all I wanted was the Dinobot. Thought the sculpts were just as neo-g-1 updates as the AOE Dinobots were.

I've never understood the hate for "neo" designs. Updates and changes are good- the ability to continuously and creatively re-invent the basic concepts into new forms is what keeps Transformers alive after all. These guys still look like the Dinobots, just with more details, updated designs and better articulation. I'm especially glad they gave Columpio a flexy neck- little things like that add a tonne of fun factor to TFs. If the FansToys 3PMP Sludge has a similar articulated neck I might spring for him for "proper" dino scale. If they've just left it as a solid lump (which I suspect they might because GEEWUN) then I'll pass.

I imagine the QC issues will be rectified soon. FansProject are normally very good about getting errors fixed after all. I'll wait for his price to fall a little anyway, by which point the QC problems should have been fixed.

I don't harbor a hate for 'neo'; the look/aesthetic just doesn't homage G1 in quite the same way as Classics does.

And I know you're no fan of G1, but hating on the source material that started it all to the extent that you do can be a dangerous game in the Transformers fandom (just as the opposite extreme of being a 'Geewunner' can really cause some damage).

I like all the features you listed, sure, but I'm still not 100% on which way to go with the Dinobots. I'm not sure whether I want to get them all from the same company or mix and match. Plus, Toyworld's first Dinobot is looking nice, and their design quality seems to have been improving, so I may wait to see what they have in store. Same for Planet X.

At any rate, my "wait and see" strategy seems to be working to my advantage here. Hopefully we'll also see some discounting once they're all released (i.e. the retailer strategy of selling TFC team members together as a 'set').

It seems that every DinoNot set caters to a specific desire. FansToys and BullsFire are for MP fans, Toyworld and the guys doing Shuraking are for people who want a Dinobot Combiner (with Toyworld going for more G1 looks and the Shuraking guys going for a more updated look), Planet X are aiming for FOC fans, Fansproject are going for the neo/updated G1 look, and Bold Forms are aiming at fans of the G1 toy look.

And for the record, I don't "hate" G1, I just don't think it's the be all and end all of Transformers, and I think a lot of things about it were really, really dumb. I like neo designs because they keep the good things about the original designs whilst getting rid of the crap bits. I'm all for homages and design inspirations, but I don't think we should let nostalgia get in the way of progress.

Granted I'm only 18, and thus am not part of the G1 generation (I watched some G1 episodes on VHS as a kid and loved them, but the toys I grew up with were from the Unicron Trilogy and the latter ends of RID- my first ever Transformers toy was RID Side Burn) so I don't have the same nostalgia for it as a lot of people on here.

I understand your position on G1 and agree to an extent, but your rhetoric sometimes doesn't reflect your moderation. I'm 27, so I fall on the younger end of the spectrum for folks who enjoy G1. I grew up on repeats/VHS, and every weekend I would make my parents rent me Transformers: The Movie. That movie, more than anything else, ingrained the legitimacy of G1 in my brain, for reasons that largely mitigate your G1 criticisms. The Movie was (more) serious, and had much less the hokey feel of the TV cartoon.
