I think it is probable that they have males and females, it is always two options, either they look like females, or they actaully are females. What I think is there is a probability that they were made to appear female to appeal to clients, but that begs the question: if humans females are supposedly the only creatures who are "supposed" to look like this, why do the alien buyers want this look? There has to be something appealling to that client's mind about that shape. It is possible their own females look like that, otherwise, why bother?

If they are true females, why do they look so obviously female? If they can reproduce only by making new sparks, why do they have a lot of the physiology that looks like they could go the whole nine yards? Why the broad hips, rounded bodies and sometimes breasts? (These are probably the usual, though there are Tf females that appear male but have sexual dimorphic traits. For example, female Seekers tend to have narrower wings and smaller bodies then males.) It would be easier to just simply put the new spark into a generic body instead of one that has to look female. Plus it would be easier if necessary to just have any old pair of Tfs 'hook up' to create sparks instead of it only being male and female.

I think "stupid" isn't the appropriate word at all.

They aren't for the "boy's autobots pleasure". They fight against evil just like the "guys" do (just to remind you, although the Transformers have male and female "looks" to them, they are actually genderless).

Elita One is the leader of the female Autobots. One would think you have to have some kind of leadership skills and intelligence to take that role so stupidity is something she is NOT. Arcee helped against the Decepticons. Just watch the animated movie. It's not like she just stands around watching everyone fight.

I don't get where you get the "useless" theory from. All Autobots are trying to save the world, including them.

My theory on why they have that "useless" theory is that they are gender-biased.

I agree that the fembots are highly resourceful part of the Autobot forces and have as much of an important role fighting Shockwave on Cybertron as the other Autobots have fighting Megatron on Earth.

Even things on earth that reproduce asexually will once in a while seek out a partner. And they have no sexual differances to set them apart from one and other.

It is all about ballance, thay exsist because "life will find a way" (Jurrassic park), it was a quirk in their timelost origins. Or so it says in Arcee's bio.

The transformers were created by primus who was inturn created by the one. Who know maybe the One meddeled in the sparks without anyone's knowing and made female sentiants just because he wanted to. I mean he did make Unicron so why not make a femme.

Never trust a bot that leaks energon for.. oh never mind, I think it's cool that they're around the lady fans deserve relatable heros and villians as much as us. The transformers are machines given human qualities to make the charachters sympathetic and deplorable and that can be done w/ a fem touch as well.

In thebegining of the Animated movie, Unicron dvours Lithon (or hower u spell it) on that planet you see little Trnsformer like kids.Meanwhile on Cybertron, there is no such thing.There is only few FemBots, as Bender would call them, most transformers look like males. If Arcee is genderless than why she would be a female utilizied robot?.And one more thing, On Quintesssan world, Kranix get devoured y Sharkticons, he has an alt mode, why he didnt Transform and fly off?.

Well, that's planet Lithone, not planet Cybertron. Like how Earth has females and children? That's Earth, not Cybertron. It's a completely different planet that probably doesn't have its own Primus.

Also, it's a movie, so there has to be drama. (He probably wasn't expecting the drop, due to the "innocent" verdict, and he probably would have been shot, anyway, so it doesn't really matter.)

I've already listed three reasons that a female transformer would be a useful design as well as a theory as to how they might conceive children, with gender merely acting as a form of attraction rather than functional sexual organs, sending the makings of a new spark to Primus. I'm not gonna list them in detail again. Please just review the thread.

Without reading the whole 8 pages (flames to /dev/null, please), I'm in the camp that never had a problem with feminine Transformers - ever. Perhaps it's because I didn't confuse 'feminine' with 'female'...

Essentially, I have no problem whatsoever with some Transformers having a 'feminine' personality, just as most TFs have a distinctly 'masculine' personality, and having appropriately styled bodies - though I'd like to see the occasional fembot NOT depicted as a statuesque robo-vixen who's just there to keep the fanservice factor up.

Yeah, obviously I know the 'real world' version about Hasbro initially wanting to 'connect' with the young-girl market, etc. I'd also prefer to avoid the very silly G1 cartoon version where the function of the female Autobots was to be the left-behind girlfriends of the (red) Autobots and to need rescuing / being told what to do at every turn, even though it's the biggest example in the G1 multiverse canon (this is primarily because I hate using the words 'canon' and 'G1 cartoon' in the same sentence).

I'd rather look to examples like Arcee in most other media, and particularly to Beast-era examples such as Blackarachnia and Airrazor. Here we have TFs who just happen to be feminine, and nobody sees it as unusual or particularly noteworthy. Again, this is 'feminine' rather than 'female' in the biological sense - while the idea masculine / feminine personality types doesn't preclude the idea of romantic attraction in any way, bad fanfic writers take note that TFs do not get it on and don't procreate in the biological manner, so there is no point in them having actual 'genders' as has been pointed out.

Having waffled on quite long enough, I'd also like to give props to Predaprince for pointing out the discrepancy with the Starscream / Prowl / (etc) fangirls.

Do you mean in the specific case of the fembots or for G1 / Transformers in general? In the first case, I might argue the point given the sheer amount of Blackarachnia and Airrazor material in existence; in the second, I'll take 10 years of Marvel comics over three-and-a-bit seasons of shoddily-produced, internally inconsistent cartoons that were initially based on material produced for the comic book, thanks.

Basically, I can't actually see any leg for that proposition to stand on, I'm afraid.
