In the movie, when Unicron changed Skywarp and Thundercracker into Cyclonus and Scourge, were they still alive when it happened or were they dead?

Plus, why do Tfs change their names when they get "reformatted?"

I think they were dead, in the ship they were still alive, barely alive but seemed to have perished wile floating to Unicron.

The seconed one is, Hasbro selling more toys.

I like to believe that they were barley alive and then Unicron killed them to change them into Scrouge and Cyclonus to make them stronger and crap

It's an entirely subjective matter. They could have been alive or dead, they weren't really focused on enough. What's the point in thrashing about when you're drifting helplessly through space?

On the other hand, if they didn't find some way to stop moving forward, Unicron would have blown them back in the other direction ala Megatron, or they would have continued forward and crashed into him.

I like to think that Skywarp and Thundercracker weren't really changed into those characters, because I hate them...but alas...they were probably barely alive, then rejuvanated into those ghastly new creations.

Or if you go by the animation errors in the movie, it could have just been lookalikes taken in. Or they were ghosts at Screamer's coronation ceremony.

That's the great thing about animation errors: it opens up so many interesting story possibilites. Was Soundwave really an undercover Autobot? Did Huffer survive the movie and switch sides? Did Skywarp and Thundercracker actually die, or was it some of the extra seekers who littered More Than Meets The Eye?

So many possibilities that will never be answered.

I think Thundercracker and Skywarp were alive when they were forcibly reformatted, but I say that only because I believe that Unicron can only warp pre-existing life, not give it from himself like Primus.

No proof of my theory though, so it stays that, a theory.

has anyone read the IDW comic version of the cartoon movie?

Postby ARCTrooperAlpha » Thu Oct 11, 2007 6:00 pm

Hi guys, very very curious (if not extremely) about the IDW version as it has added scenes (supposedly omega supreme defends the ark) and added characters, bingo aerialbots and the other combiner teams.

Can you tell me what the teams each do in there? as well as omega supreme?

Did they add in the deleted scenes from the original movie?

I believe he is wanting to know what was added into the IDW 1986 Movie Adaptation that was not in the Animated Movie.

I seem to remember someone complaining that that adaptation ultimately had less in it than the movie, not more. I haven't read it myself, though.

I would say they were alive. They hadn't been out there in space too long.

That was my view. While it doesn't really specify for how long they drifted through space, they were alive aboard Astrotrain and so I always assumed (I know what they say about that!) that they hadn't died while floating.

I would say that they were probably damaged around the same state as Megatron. (which wasn't very dead).

I'd say that they were alive because corpses floating around would've been a little too much even for the movie.

I know this is going to come off as a stupid question, but I haven't read the comics and my only memories are of the original cartoon and the movie, were Scourge and Cyclonis aware of their past? I mean, did they have the same souls? It seemed to me that Galvatron was just Megatron in a new body, but during the Rodimus Prime era cartoons, I don't remember Cyclonis or Scourge ever mentioning their pasts at all.

I don't think there was anything in the comics or cartoon that suggested they were really aware of their past existance. Thinking about it, they were kinda like what OCP intended with Robocop: all the experience, battle training and reflexes but with none of the old personality.
