Despite not being toy accurate, at least that Motormaster transformation isn't just the parts just kinda morphing together, as the cab does appear to shift to the middle of the trailer, which then folds in on itself.
Also I never noticed how much the transformation cog looks like a Transform head at that angle! It bears some resemblance to Armada Sureshock and Grindor:
