G1 combiner bot sizes

Postby DorkimusPrime » Fri Sep 21, 2007 6:46 pm

I'm considering getting some G1 aerialbots and protectobots on ebay, and I was wondering if the KO's I have might be able to donate thier head (for Superion, anyway), hands, and feet to the cause. They're definitely the right colors (Superion's stuff is white and Defensor's stuff is black). I'm getting these for my personal collection and have no problem using the KO stuff as long as it's the right size and shape. The KO's I have came from Big Lots, and at least Hot Spot seems to be the size I remember the real G1 Hot Spot to be.

For reference, they both seem to be just under a foot tall...right around the same height as Leader Prime, maybe a little shorter. I may eventually buy the legit parts later, but I'm most interested in the bots for now.

here's a tip- smaller-scale bootleg gestalts would be carded. bootleg gestalts that are the right size would have a box. :)

There are different sized KO's out there but if you get the right size........the heads will fit but the hands and feet might not....the peg holes and stems are a different size with some of them so you might have to shave down the stem or open the hole on your originals.I know cause I did the same with some of mine.

Hmmmm...definitely gave me something to think about. Mine all came in a window-box. I found one ebay auction that shows an "original" size for KO Defensor and a "mini" size, the original being about 8.25 inches (200mm) and the "mini" being around 6.75 inches (170mm). Of those two, my Defensor is the 8.25" one. My Superion is actually about a half-inch taller if you count the pointy "horns" on the helmet. I'm gonna take a shot at it.

They sound like the right sizes but like I said before the pegs on the hands and feet that attach to the bodys might have to be shaved down a bit or the holes widened.....its prety eazy you just need a exzakto knife or a dremmel.

I did something similar a few years back. I got the G1 Protectobots and they didn't come with the parts for Defensor, so I grabbed a knock off of them to get the parts. When the knock got here I was sorry to see that the combiner parts were two big for the G1 bots. Now I got the knock offs sitting in my basement in a box and I'm not sure what to do with them. The knock offs are not that bad quality except the stickers are pealing off.
