A few have.

Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 had their moments. AvP 2 and Doom 3 on the PC also.

The one that really made me skid my undies was Silent Hill 2.

If there was ever a game that needed to be remade for the HiDef gen it's Silent Hill 2.

There is a remake of the first one coming out on the Wii.

Legacy of Kain Soulreaver on the PC, the level in the old cathedral where you meet the spider vampires they kinda freaked me out with the sound they made while moving and then the music and other sound effects in that level, the constant breathing oh it's terrible especially at midnight in a dark room and you took pain killers to beat the migraine you have cos you've been playing the game all day. but that was like 10 years ago.

Dead Space kinda makes me feel uncomfortable so I just stopped playing.

F.E.A.R. never scared me, it amused me how my friends kept freaking out about it especially when they where nothing more but total wreaks after we reached the last few stages.

HiDef graphics are over rated, and the original Silent Hill was on PS1 so it will look sooo much better.

That too scared the crap out of me, and also the final battle with Tyrant where you have to run around the lab was pretty scary for me as well. :-?

Wouldn't say any games have actually scared me, although plenty have made me jump on my first play through, Resident Evil 2 where the Zombies grab through the boarded windows in the police station being one that sticks in my head.

The latest Tomb Raider managed it a couple of times with the Giant squid tentacles too.

I will admit though that I've not really touched the Survival horror genre much apart from RE 2 and 3.

Honestly, I can not see how L4D can be scary. I mean, you have 3 people who have your back. I get scared more when my character is alone.
Bioshock scared the **** outta me when I first played it, now I just run through that game, laughing at the splicers as I kill them.
Only time HL2 scared me was during Ravenholm. I was **** scared to start up Hl2 cuz of that town. Frickin' headcrabs. But it was funny when I set the zombies on fire.

There are two games in where a scene in them really creeped me out:
The Ravenholme part in Half-Life 2, and the crypt parts in Return to Castle Wolfenstine.
They were both dark, shadowy, and creepy as heck 0_0

That's what got me too. You go down that one hallway so many times it get's comfortable, then suddenly one time you go down it and BAM here come the zombies. Made me drop the controler and get killed the first time it happened.

The first time hearing the Mini Battlelords roar in Duke Nukem 3D.
Mainly because you have no idea what the hell it is that made the sound and also because it means your fighting the boss which gave you so much trouble in episode one, AGAIN!.
Atleast you have much better weapons and he is way weaker.

If your an Arachnophobe (Like me): The Ticks and Trites from Doom 3!
These guys are essentially giant spiders made out of disembodied heads that jump at you from a distance, may not souns threatening or spooky but if you've seen it you'll know what i'm on about.

Dead Space is nice and creepy.
The sounds of enemies scraping through the air-ducts above with the occasional roar of a creature that you know is going to jump infront of your face any second now while electronic computers and intercoms buzz and bleep out messages and your surrounded by the blood and corpses of crew-members as you grip tight to your plasma cutter and slowly descend into madness. And all the while this is going on, the ominous sound of a voice singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" can be heard.
Damn I love this game.

Hell, yeah! The first game was Silent Hill 2. My sisters (three of them) and me, we played it together and changed the controller to another one, because it was horrifying >_<

The secound time was Obscure, but only the first game. The second one was so funny, we laughed more then we screamed XD

The last one was Silent Hill 5 and it still drives the crap out of me T_T

RE4 on the PS2 creeped me out, not by making me jump, just generally atmospheric.

I can remember quite vividly, being home alone one evening, playing it with the surround on. I got to the bit where you first enter the castle and hear the monks chanting and it made me feel distinctly uneasy. So much so that I had to turn the sound down

More recently both GOW1 & 2 have made me jump, especially the odd, unexpected headshot!

I'll never forget the first time the Nemesis crashed through the window of the Police Station. It seemed like the Nemesis could show up anywhere at any time, and he followed you from room to room. His theme music was scary, too.

I didn't think much of Nem until I tripped over Brad's corpse while I was trying to loot his remains. But the scariest/WTF part of that game for me was when I MYOB walking along the street thinking "this is pretty boring" when that bastard jumped off a three story building and chased my arse down the road right into a pack of dogs.

But I found Silent Hill to be creepy and Fatal Frame was the game that really had my nerves fraying around the edges a tad... it didn't help that my parents were painting the house and all the curtains were down and it was a dark and stormy night AND I was alone.

At the risk of embarrassment, the biggest scare I've had from a video game was when I was a kid and playing Dangerous Dave II, some stinkin' werewolf jumped on my arse. I wasn't expecting it.

Now I'm totally hard core. Nothing scares me. :-B
Something memorable here.

Yeesh, that is bad. L4D isn't even scary to me at night. At all.

mcart01y327 wrote:...and...I love Halo to death, but I hate it when the Flood comes around. My parents have to run up the stairs to see why I'm screaming so loud.

In Halo 1, the Flood were scary, at first. And only on my first play through, when I had no idea what was happening. (Great level the first time around, actually) In Halo 2, they were less scary, muh less scary. By Halo 3, they were not scary, just aggravating.

I guess Zombies don't actually scare me...oh, wait.

Half-Life 2. The Zombies, while lacking any real damage dealing ability, have one unique power: They have the power to make me happy to see the Combine. Ravenholm is difficult not because you die, but because you're more that likely to say "Okay, I would like to stop playing now this level is creepy."

Ol' fashion regular Zombies are fine, if not a bit creepy, and dangerous if they gang up on you and get too close. Fast Zombies...something that looks like that, coming at you at such speed, screaming like that, creepy as hell. And the Toxic Zombies...it occurred to me recently that I've never gotten a good close-up look at a Toxic Zombie because they creep me right the hell out. Toxic Headcrabs are just as bad, they used to make me freeze up entirely. (Not so much anymore) I will actually pour explosives into an area where I know a Toxic Zombie will be simply to avoid getting close to one.

I hear that! Rattling drainpipes, screeching, blurring shadows...the last part of ravenholm, on the roof just before the church, that's epicly spooky. You can see them running around the roofs and screaming, and...it's pretty cool.

When I was a wee on (the first and second time I completed the game), the redeads in Ocarina of time **** me up. Partially because after finishing it once I found out that it's impossible to escape most of them once they're on you.

Wallmasters still **** me up a little. The wind, the shadow, then nothing.

Gex 3 scared the crap out of me when i was young because of the bears in the one level all of a sudden coming off of their pedastals and walking around.

Some portions of Final Fantasy 7 gave me the creeps too the first time i played it. The second time, IT wasn't so bad because i knew what was coming.

I have to agree with city commander, redeads are scary but Zant is freaky, flood are just annoying and Nazi Zombies is easy with a flamethrower, scary would be a speed run of the shadow temple in Ocarina of Time at 11:00pm, with no lights on

Good stuff. The shadow temple, for me, will always be the most epic 3D Zelda dungeon. It just embodies everything I want in Zelda, and it is an actual dungeon!
