I'm sure plenty of people have. But that is why you get more than one and never start with anything expensive. It is a learning process. The first step would be to check out the Kitbashing forum to learn what the experts already know. Then get something cheap that you don't care if you screw up and practice.

I ruined a model car once when I was a child, trying to paint it. Turned out horribly wrong.

Thankfully I learned my lesson, painting plastic is not one of my strengths. :P

Never, because even if you mess them up. If your good you know how to bounce back on it.

Yup, there's always thinner or more paint.

For me, I don't call it wasting seeing if I do try to repaint a transformer, I have 2 of the same copy. Plus, my repaints usually involve simply replacing one color with another. Like changing Movie Jazz from a Silver Solstice to a Blue Solstice(I can't wait to do it)

Today I didn't like the color scheme I painted on good ole Wreckage... I tried to remove the paint and he disintegrated  I'll never do that again.

At least when I get another, it will enjoy having more blades to play with...

I know better, as I have zero artistic ability. I leave that to the professionals.

I'm not even brave enough to put Repro labels on something let alone paint it. But damn I'm tempted to get an Alternator Jazz and try out those G1 labels on him :D

I'm very cautious, i rely on little touch ups and add on's

I dont have the material to repaint a Megatron, but i can add the "Emergency 911" print to the sides of barricade.

I think painting your figures long term is a bad idea. If you look at toys from the past that bring fond memories to people, its not custom painted He-man, Snake-eyes, or G1 optimus primes. People generally like there toys in their original factory intended state as collector items. I know everytime I have altered one of my figures I usually regreted it long term and felt the piece lost its historical value. But if you just love painting and it makes you happy paint any and every toy you have, since in reality they are just toys and one day we will be gone and the toys will end up in someone else's collection.

Well if Hasbro would increase their paint apps then it would be factory done. That would make your sig a request to Hasbro to invest a little more in painted detail. I think this movie line could definately have used some washes and extra metal detailing. I just don't want to have to do it myself. I do however touch up my figures if they get scratched or chiped.
