It's a pathetic sentiment. Grow up.
If it wasn't for Hasbro, we wouldn't be here, and while we may not agree with all of their tactics, we do have to admit that if it wasn't for their bringing the molds here, we wouldn't have TFs.
How quickly people forget what they've done for us, and how much it outweighs the bad.
I hate to treat grown adults like children, but when they act as stupidly selfish as this, it's well deserved.
Apparently each and every one of you believes you're above the law? *BUZZ* WRONG.
Hasbro is following the law, and so should you.
While I agree with the general sentiment regarding the anti-Hasbro nonsense, I don't see this as 'following the law'. Not releasing the figure stateside without an affixed blaze-orange cap would be following the law. Hasbro making an effort to prevent importation of product by a secondary company seems more like using the law to flex their muscle.
I'm not going to bad mouth Hasbro, but I had a thought.
You know, I was thinking about the cap issue today. Do you think that Hasbro wants the caps on Masterpiece Megatron so they can deny imported ones and then release the capped ones domestically? Don't know if I'm asking that the right way or not, but considering the number of people it seems order the MAsterpiece series and with the success (?) of Masterpiece Starscream, I thought Hasbro might try to get a slice of that sweet money pie. But who'd buy a modified one when you could order an unmodified one, right? So we have to stop or block the orders in preparation for an eventual US Hasbro release. Megatron isn't an unknown character, and it looks like anticipation for this figure is running real high all over, so it seems like that would make financial sense.
I'm not calling this a conspiracy, by the way.....just marketing.
Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with this issue. A freind of mine says she knows a guy who is ordering unmodified Megatrons so I'm gonna get mine through her which would come through him, so I've ignored cap talk and such. Anyhow this was just a thought I had during the day. Forgive me if it's nonsense.

On subject, I bet it's A) They don't want anyone being an idiot with it and blame them for is being realistic and B) Capped one will be an Western release, in japanese packaging, with an inflated price.
I don't think Hasbro blows. They put out far more figures than does Takara. The rarity of end of the line figures isn't their fault really, that's a problem with the retailers for under-purchasing the end of the line figures. Jetfire is widely available. Again, this might be a problem with the retailers or with distribution. The stores here in Chicago have plenty of Jetfires which I have seen at many other stores during the past two months. It might have more to do with a problem with stores in your particular area.
Hasbro definitely blows over here in the UK, but we all already knew that right?
For those who don't know why:
Take the classics Magnus and Skywarp 2-pac as an example.
US price = $20 IIRC.
UK price has been given as £30 which is about $60.

I rest my case.

Passports are not required to Canada yet from the US (Birth certificates and driver's license are though), but in the near future (next year??) they will be, from what I have been reading. Can't say I have made a trip lately, but I am pretty sure there is not passport enforcement YET.
Just buy a capped version and paint it, or whatever...
Since HASBRO owns the rights to the Megatron name, character, and likenesses, I believe they do have the right to stop the 'mass' distribution of one where they do not deem it is okay.
Anyone else think this is for movie hype (joking)??? Even if it is not, it's going to do a nice job of advertising it.
Swerve wrote:I for one am calling BS on this one. These types of rumors, theories, and speculation always pop up prior to the release of just about any highly anticipated movie or product. The fact is that people don't know, so they try to reason based upon what they do know the outcome of whatever is being discussed and people then latch onto this as an official statement.
If Hasbro was really concerned about Takara impeeding upon their US license wouldn't they try and put a stop to the Takara re-issues that were imported at the same time Hasbro was trying to sell the Commemorative Series? The same could be said for the Binaltech versus the Alternators line or MP-01 and MP-04 versus their 20th Anniversary Prime. I don't see Hasbro suddenly trying to make an example out of Takara with this figure now.
The major concern here is with the Alt mode of Megatron himself and the legality of importing him and, is the case of some retailers, the moral decison to sell a realistic toy gun without a bright orange safety cap. I don't really forsee the import of the figure as a problem considering all the TFC-06's that have been imported and resold by retailers in the US, and in gun mode no less. This item is still readily available and as far as I know, there have been no incidents.
Why would Hasbro step in within weeks of the release and suddenly disapprove? They have known about this product for some time and if they were going to do something about it they would have started sending cease and desist letters to retailers notifying them of the legal issue they would face if they attempted to import and sell this figure. It will be virtually impossible for Hasbro to stop all retailers from receiving this item now.
Until I hear something official from someone directly involved, whether it be Hasbro, Takara, or the store I ordered it from notifying me that they cannot get the figure for me, I'll be expecting my un-moddified MP-05 to arrive in a few weeks. Any third party claiming they have inside information but can't release details or otherwise cannot produce documentation that this figure will be prevented from being imported should be written off as rumor.

As for the Hasbro sucks things. You know, blame the fact you can't get this the way it was meant to be on the stupid laws the USA has. It isn't Hasbro's fault, even if it was, guess what, they own the rights to ALL the Transformers so if they want to ban it or modify it, as much as we may not like the idea, too bad. We have to accept it, it's their property.
Swerve wrote:ekocher wrote:is my mp-05 megatron safe if i got it from ebay and its in midflight now?
So far so good I suppose. There haven't been any reports on confiscated Megatrons so far and from what I understand, there are now quite a few in the country.
I'm starting to believe that the U.S. customs seizing any figures without the orange tip was a hoax, although legally speaking they technically would be in their right. Then again it is being shipped in bot mode so that might make a difference as well. It's still too early to call, but considering that TFC-06 has had no trouble finding its way into the country, in gun mode presented in a clear window no less, so I don't forsee any problems in the near future.
