headmasters...

Postby JaAm » Sat Jan 26, 2008 8:53 pm

This has aways confused me. Just what exactly is the benefit of having someone you barely know as your head? I know in japan, you were actually the smaller robot, and the body was just a sort of powersuit, but other than that, what are the benifits of headmaster technology?

In the G1 cartoon, Brainstorm stated that it was more efficient to have a human partner/assistant....

But honestly, i don't see much advantages in being a headmaster.

Targetmasters would probably help, but for Headmasters, the Bots/Cons can't stay in robot mode if the partners arent around and have to stay in vehicle mode.

You're right. It is dumb. It's just another example of the true lameness of G1 that we all don't mind overlooking from time to time.

I just imagine that they're human. Like in Masterforce. Scorponok is not Scorponok and Lord Zarak. He is Lord Zarak. I just blend their personalities.

Now the Powermasters? That's different. That really is a human plugging into a robot.

Yeah, it started with a race and shooting contest where either Spike or Daniel took out some targets, and BrainStorm going "See that kicks ass, maybe we should put slowly rotting organisms in our heads, then get mopeds and nachos"

I believe it went something like that.

I think Blurr got beaten in a race when Daniel was driving Hot Rod. (Mind you, Hot Rod had just given the Matrix back to Optimus Prime)

So, basically, they got the idea from extreme recklessness and child endangerment. Yay!

Also, Nachos are delicious.

Well they really didnt have a chance to expand on it as that 4th G1 Season didnt last but three shows. I wouldve liked to see what other stories would have come out of it. Even though Takara Expanded on it but theirs was more like a regurgitated version Pretty much ignoring the Previous seasons with all kinds of Nane changes and animals speaking.

So, in conclusion, binary bonding in general just provides a horrible dependancy on humans and is useless, and Nachos are tasty.

I finally got to see the Rebirth part 1 on Youtube last year (only had parts 2 and 3 as a kid), and it explained things that didn't make sense back then, like why they were on Nebulon and where the other old TFs were. I believe the Nebulon leader said that they needed the Autobots' help to defeat the Hive, but the Autobots didn't know the Hive's machines, so the Nebulons offered to help. Then Daniel got mortally injured, and they saved him by putting him into an exosuit that converted into Arcee's head. They decided it was such a good idea, they converted other Autobots' heads into power armor.

As for the Decepticons, the Hive council had seen what the Nebulon rebels had done, and kidnapped the Decepticons for the same procedure. But Cyclonus and others decided that they wanted to keep their heads, and offered their weapons instead (Targetmasters). They allowed the Hive to take the heads of the ones with animal alt modes, expressing clear disdain at the animals "inferior" status. Then the Autobots copied the targetmaster process after they rescued their teammates who had been captured by Decepticons/Hive masters.

Perhaps the Autobots were promised cake at the end of the binary bonding?

First you will be bonded, then there will be cake.

Actually I would like to make a case for the reasoning behind The Headmasters.Yeah it did start with a race, between Hot Rod and Blurr but Daniel was inside Hot Rod and helped him beat Blurr in the race. When Brainstorm noticed this he thought that maybe they would function better with human operators inside them, "Human Partners" according to Brainstorm. Hardhead then dismissed this as nonsense. Cerebros then asked why should they Involve Humans in their War, And Spike responded that they were pretty much already involved in the Transformers War (referring to all past Occurrences in previous Seasons). Kup then suggested it might be a good idea and give them an edge against the Decepticons, But then Highbrow dissmissed the idea again. (Progressing further) :-B , The Autobots Then Later crossed paths with the Nebulons. Gort , The Nubulon leader, told them their story of how they for centuries have been battling against
"The Hive", the Evil dictators of their planet, and went on in saying how they have mastered the art of protecting themselves against "The Hive". BUT ....They thought if they were to have the strength, size and power of the Autobots (in other words their Bodies) they could Defeat "The Hive" as well would the Autobots have the upper hand on defeating the Decepticons. Thus they would be helping eachother in the Freedom of both of their own kind. (Killing two birds with one stone if you will). That was the Original Reasoning behind The Headmasters. When Takara took over the Show and Ignored what happened in The Re-Birth 1,2 & 3, they erased that very fact. From then on that Theory behind it was forgotten thus making The Headmasters seem pointless. If Season 4 of G1 TF had carried on I’m sure The Headmasters Theory would have solidified more.
But thats my theory.

No way. We're talking the G1 cartoon here.

I like my way better.

The Headmasters are nothing more than Nebulans (which are a human race and can breed with humans) who have decided to join the battle for various reasons. So they build transector bodies to plug into, and suits that turn them into the heads.

Nevermind that the head transformation would not only leave them exposed, but also bend their bodies in ways that would kill them. :-P

Their personalities are combined. Lord Zarak and Scorponok's personalities are pretty similar. Both Galen and Spike, like Fort Max, are weary and fed up of war. It doesn't hurt anything to take the Nebulan partner and the TF and combine them.

The targetmasters are Nebulans that have decided to help the TF's for various reasons.

The story:

2007 (so it's already happened :P )

Galen (from the G1 comics) is the leader of the Nebulans. Lord Zarak seizes power in a coup, and has his minister of defense Arcana create Headmaster technology which Grax builds for him. Then Arcana escapes and gives the technology to Galen.

Then the Autobots and Decepticons crash land on the planet in the middle of all this, and the Autobots decide to help Galen get his throne back. Cyclonus, however, decides he wants to use Lord Zarak for his own ends, but finds himself and the other cons outmatched by Zarak's army of Headmasters. So until Galvatron arrives with reinforcements, the Decepticons are at the Nebulan's mercy.

The fight is on.

Sixshot arrives and is hunting Ultra Magnus. He loses the fight.

Punch/Counterpunch kills TF's on both sides. Nobody knows what side he's on. At the critical moment, he proves himself once and for all to be an Autobot.

Rodimus Prime dies, and Galen as Fortress Maximus becomes temporary leader of the Autobots. Then Galen dies at the hands of Lord Zarak, and Spike Witwicky takes up the mantle.

As Fort Max, Spike defeats Lord Zarak as Scorponok, and Galvatron is so enraged with Zarak that he throws him into a pit to be killed by the Terrorcons, but they are so stupid that they don't even kill him all the way, so Devil Z rescues him, and makes him Black Zarak, but by then Zarak's coup is overthrown and Galen's successor is leader of Nebulan.

Ultra Magnus and Galvatron are both sunk to the bottom of an artic sea with a deep trench and are frozen and lost to everyone.

The battle continues with different characters....

Yeah, it's not canon. Screw canon. :-P
