HELP! MY CLASSIC GRIMLOCK IS MESSED UP!

I'm transforming it for the first time, and the damn head won't turn! It stops midway, so he's constantly looking at the shoulder! What's wrong?

I'm really pissed. The bottom of the back of the head can't get past either of the hinges for the shoulder flaps.

Are you able to post pictures? I'm not quite sure which flap is giving you trouble.

[edit] If you mean that the flaps on the head won't connect to the shoulders...thats actually a flaw in the figure itself.

Dude, his "collar" that has the flaps on it also twists on the neck axis. Turn that, and the head should be able to turn freely too.

Here is Grimlock's head correctly transformed

I know that. What I'm saying is that the HINGES ARE BLOCKING THE HEAD MOVEMENT.

Post pics please. This could be a mold defect.

Well, I wasn't able to get the picture to my amila address, but according to the pictures on this site it doesn't really look like a mold defect, at least not on the head. The hinges do have little rectangular pieces sticking out, which are what is blocking the head movement. Does yours have these angular protrusions?

In short, A is blocking the movement of the head, the specific section labeled as B. I can't get mine's head into this position.

Bump!

The review on this site for Grimlock makes mention of this problem, but it isn't really helping.

I think I found the problem. The head was put on backwards, facing the back and not the front, and I can't rotate it around because it was never meant to do that. ****.

Well, the only thing I can do now is call Hasbro up and ask for a replacement. Business hours are monday through friday, though, and they'd likely ship me some completely random product instead, so screw that. I can't take apart the torso and fix it myself because the hinge for the blaster holder is blocking the way to the screw.

Are you sure, you are transforming him right? Remember his chest rotates around so his left claw ands up becoming his right arm. Rotate the back shoulder piece around until it faces the back.

Obviously disconnect the tail before you do so.

The big black tab, should be able to fold down against his back.

I'm trying to locate mine to give you more accurate directions, but he's in a box, when i find him, i will.

So, how should I destroy my defective toy? Firecrackers? Melting? Acid bath?

As I said in a previous post, the head was mis assembled. Can yours rotate fully around?

Calm down. After reviewing my own figure it sounds like it was assembled a little to hastily at the factory. the head is intended only to face forward. The good news is I just solved your problem for you the easy way...

REVERSE ENGINEERING!!!

>A-hem<

Look on the back of the head. See the screw that holds in the lightpiping for the eyes? Take a small screwdriver and unscrew it. I used a 1.2m/m flathead, standard in any small driver set. The lightpiping just falls out, no problem. This releaves the pressure holdind the black plastic in shape. It can now be turned safely with minimal to slight force. Face it forward and reassemble for Classics Grimlock goodness!

Well before posting , I unscrewed mine and totally turned it around a complete 360 turn. Just hold the shoulders and remember this:

You can't make it any worse.

Speak for yourself, this one's feet just fell off.

Yeah the right leg fell off mine when I was doing it too so don't feel bad. Good luck! He's worth the extra work!

I sure hope so.

Also, the right leg can't move completely inward, so he's always kind of leaning non one side.

Yeah, I should have gotten Cliffjumper.

So anyway, unscrewing the visor piece doesn't really help because it's not what's blocking the head movement. I'm going to need to get a really thin screwdriver to get behind that hinge blocking one of the torso screws so I can just take apart the whole thing.

One question, if you rotate the black piece that holds the head, all the way around, does the head move?

No, until it gets caught by the shoulder panel hinges.

EDIT: Actually, it does, but it doesn't always follow.
