And as mentioned above, it also make a big difference whether you're selling to a collector or a dealer.

Copyright dates do not reflect release years, rather the year the mold was designed, which nowadays is usually a year earlier. Generation 1 first used toys that were released years earlier in Japan, either Diaclone or Microman, so those molds had years like 1980 or even 1970's due to how Japanese copyright law worked.
