Are we sure about this? I won't be picking this up until tomorrow to see for myself how it's actually credited, but could this be a case of Milne doing pencils and Matere doing inks? If it's credited as both on pencils then please ignore this but it's hard to be sure from your wording on that one TT.

I don't have it here with me, but it clearly stated that Milne did the beginning pages, Matere the middle, and Milne returned to the last set.

More readings will help, I'm sure.

The battle where Megatron kills Clench was what really confused me, I have no idea whats going on.

My take on it was that Megs kinda pushed him onto the other guy's sword, cause the guy was like "Wha--", like he didn't mean to hurt Clench. That took the indecisive leader out and allowed Megs to show his stuff.

I loved it. Only thing that bothers me is Megatron. They are making him out to be this monster who will tear weaker Transformers apart limb from limb and yet he isn't much of a threat to Optimus Prime. Course I'd love to see him tear Prime's faceplate off now!

This is a really good series so far, the artwork is a little messy and very confusing at times, but the writing is top notch, definately recomend.

They definitely take a couple of readings to see exactly what is happening. And they are pretty good. It's not my favorite story, but still worth the time and money!

I'm just wondering how ruthless megs already is, and what part is transformation. At first he seemed like a down and out joe, who got pissed off at the wrong people. Now he seems like a monster waiting to come out from under his skin. Was all it took one kill to unleash meg's fully evil, or is he just a really fast learner in the school of villainy?

I just picked up the Spotlight.

It's clear that Ratbat is behind much of the strife on Cybertron. He admitted that he is orchestrating events like the mine massacre in order to profit financially. He is also seems to be behind the energon shortages by diverting the supply and covering it up. He is or at least is a part of the corrupt element of the Senate.

What Megatron is doing is just a continuation from issue 1. He is a wanted criminal on the run. He has no way of making a living and therefore get the energon he needs to survive. He has a talent for brutal violence and the Robot Fight Club is the way he can survive. In the process he becomes a star. He likes the attention, the cheers, the accolades, the reputation and probably the money as well. We start to see his ego grow.

Soundwave works for Ratbat. Ratbat sees Megatron and his crew as an opportunity to cause more mayhem that he can profit from or start a conflict to unseat Sentinel Prime so can eventually take over. Ratbat as a Senator probably knows that Megatron was a worker in the mine and is wanted and knows if he arms Megatron and his crew that they will seek to get back at the Autobots and the Senate. The Gladatorial Games I think are a symbol of the dissatisfaction that is simmering among the populace which is why the videos are so popular.

This issue also gives glimpses that the Transformers civilization is more complex than just the quest for energon supplies. They seem to have a complex financial or stock market, a criminal underworld, poverty, ghettos and a black market.

PS

It was cold blooded how the Constructicons just calmly picked up the squatters in that building and melted them down like it and they were nothing.

It was also disturbing how Fastback and the other Autobot didnt blink either when it happened.

His fro? Ok! I liked that part, actually. It reminded me of that dinosaur on Jurassic Park, you know, the one with the crazy head thing. Who knew Megs had a built-in crown! Starscream would be jealous.

The robot that Hook tosses in the smelter resembles one of the downtrodden robots Megatron walked by while he was telling Ratchet how he survived being blown up on a spacebridge (check US issues 56-58...I'm sure it's one of those).

The green robot bum (empty) was Wheezel.

but this isn't g1 box art and idw already has a design for their whirl and its not this...so that leaves it as maybe it is just shockwave, thats how i see it...i mean soundwave did have a holo image of a shockwave type hand mod when he gave megs the sales pitch.

It's Whirl, you can tell because of his color, the chest and the red optic.

This is the past, the Whirl we have seen as part of the Wreckers is in the present. So I would assume modifications were in order from this point.

Shockwave would probablynot be sitting in on this meeting. Although we have not met him yet, it would not seem right for him to be the only known 'con sitting in a room of known 'bots. :-?

When wasn't he much of a threat to Prime? Megatron practically killed him (thanks to an ore-13 boost), in Escalation.

I would say Megatron's up to form.

But I'm also saying this isn't g1 so that version of whirl does not apply here this is idw....Basically all the bots look just like they do now in the present storyline....So I cant see him looking like a completely different bot in this universe.

In your picture that is Jazz in the front, and he looks nothing like we have seen him in IDW's verse.

I understand we have no idea that that is actually Whirl because it is not labeled like the old Marvel comics always did, but it looks much closer to Whirl than it does Shockwave.

And Waaaaghlord said perhaps the most defining thing, the cycloptic eye is red and not Shockwave's yellow one... :-?

I liked the inclusion of the Constructicons, although It is probably safe to say that they cannot combine yet (may not even be able to combine in the Devastation arc era either).

I know this is meant to be a Megatron SPotlight type story, but I am, far more interested in seeing how the Soundwave/Ratbat/Megatron power struggle works out.

Im thinking once Megatron realises that Him killing that guard in the mine was Ratbats doing (for shutting the mine down) he will tear him limb from limb, reducing him to cassette mode.

Im thinking that Megatron did indeed sacrifice Clench to take over his group's command, It only really started to make sense on my 3rd read, as I thought Megatron had impaled Clench himself, but the sword was the wrong colour.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

You see Megs behind Clench, then Clench is impaled on that other guy's sword, while the other guy is confused as to what happened. So apparently he pushed Clench, "congratulated" the other guy, then showed what he could do.

That wasn't me, although I do agree with the sentiment. For me Shockwave just wouldn't fit in as Council (pre-Autobot) security, doesn't fit with his scientist mandate. For a later Wrecker however it's almost a given that Whirl would have militaristic roots right back to the beginning.

Awesome issue, I'm really enjoying this story especially the corrupt Bad-Guy Autobots! It's nice to see things from the 'Cons side at last. The first issue gave me the impression that Megs would become the Arthur Skargill of Cybertron, but now he's becoming more like Spartacus!
He rocks anyway, Viva La Revolution! (hums the red flag)

(Still can't spot Starscream though :-( )
