How old were you when you first saw Beast Wars on TV?

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

How old were you when you first saw Beast Wars on TV?

Postby DvDqNoC » Sun Oct 21, 2007 7:07 pm

I've noticed that Beast Wars is a popular series here on the boards, so I was curious how old you guys were when you saw the first Beast Wars episode.

I'll go first: I was about 7 years old.

Season 2 was in 97 right? I picked up on Season 2 right after the Coming of the Fuzors episode, so I was 7. I saw all of the season 1 reruns that my WB station played. I think I saw each season 1 episode at least 3 times. I loved that show, and was disappointed with Beast Machines, and I would absolutely love a resurrection of that show in some form or another.

*Sigh* Those were the days... :-?

Well if last year was the tenth anniversary I was probably 11 or 12.

However, I remember finding the Primal vs Megatron 2-pack, and collecting several figures long before I found out there was a TV show running.

I know I had Razorbeast, Iguanus, Rattrap, and Terrorsaur when we went on a Summer vacation, and I got Polar Claw and Scorponok in Topeka on the trip. Dinobot I got some time after (A velociraptor Transformer, there was no way my mom was going to pass that up) and Waspinator I got later in the Fall (he was an apology from my mom for a fight we got into over a class project I had to do in sixth grade; long story.)

I know I got all those before I saw the show because I remember originally thinking of Waspinator and Scorponok in terms of their Tech Specs rather than their TV show personas, and didn't originally want Cheetor (too bulky for a cheetah) or Tarantulas (transparent orange didn't thrill me).

By the time I had Rhinox, Tigatron, and Black Arachnia though I know I'd seen the show - Rhinox I immediately modified to look more like the cartoon, and the other two I probably bought because of the cartoon.

Between 11 and 13, got me back into Transformers, and I found it by mistake trying to find a Power Raangers show to shut up the younger kid of a family friend of my parents. He said leave the show and thankfully, I did.

Beast Wars? That brings me back. It was about 95-96ish so I was about 13 or something. I had not seen a Transformer show in years and one day when flipping through the TV I saw this computer animated show with the title Transformers and I was completely floored becase THAT brought back so many memories from the G1 show. I recorded and watched every episode and even finished Beast Machines though I didn't care for it as much. Watching it now I might appreciate the ideas presented in the show.

This show didn't turn me into a hard core fan, but it did rekindle my love for the old show and for that Beast Wars will always have a little place in my memory banks. :x

I saw Beast Wars the verry first episode the verry first time it premeared on TV in the US. Of course the first time I saw BW it was running weekday mornings and I had to leave to catch the bus about half way through the show. I cought every episode again in reruns when it was moved to show in the afternoon when school was over.

I have memory of all of this and yet not how old I actully was. I'm 21 as of March 6, 2007, you do the math.

I watched the first episode on it's first British run back in 1996, I must have been 5 or 6 at the time. I carried on watching it, catching all the first runs I could & watching reruns whenever I missed one, up till they stopped the show just before season 3... I think they showed it eventually but I missed it...
Man I was lucky the episodes showed on weekends & half term over here, glad I didn't miss any of them due to school, that would suck...

I was 23 when it first aired in 1996, although I missed the first episode the first time it was aired in April of '96 (saw the second episode tho). The first two episode were aired as a preview before the seires started. I saw the first epsiode in September of '96.

:o Oh noes! I'm sorry. :-(

The crazy thing about the show was how it got better the longer it went on (the reverse seems to be true of most shows). That's why they had to cancel it and start Beast Machines. If it had reached 5 seasons its coolness would have no longer been containable in our universe, and the boundaries between realities would have begun to disintegrate.

That was the original plan for DC's Infinite Crisis BTW. Ironically, for the very same reason they had to cut both the Transformers and Chuck Norris out of the final plot.

I was 20 or so, and busy enough that I couldn't ever catch more than half an episode at a time.

I seem to remember thinking it was kinda neat, but since I didn't recognize any of the characters, I didn't make any sort of extra effort to watch.

I actually have a similar story to that extent:

Back when Beast Wars came on, I had no cable/satelite(lived to far away for cable), only two local channels(the equivalent of CBS and NBC). However, my brother would go to college during the week, and stayed in an apartment that DID have cable. So he was nice enough to tape me stuff like Batman, Power Rangers, Spider-Man, X-Men, G.I. Joe, and that stuff, and brought me a tape home almost every weekend. Well on one of these tapes there was the first commercial for Beast Wars toys, and that's how I learned of it. I was ten at the time I believe, going on eleven.

Anyway, before he found out that one of his stations was airing Beast Wars(which he eventually taped some for me, first season stuff), I had gotten the McDonald's Beast Wars figures, Dinobot, Snapper(love turtles), and the Bat Optimus and Gator Megs. This is how it ties into the quote above. One day at Wal-Mart I saw that there was a gorrilla Optimus and T-Rex Megatron. My initial reaction was "What? But they're supposed to be a bat and an alligator!" I of course later learned that it wasn't the case in the show.

I never got to see the entire series until a few years later. We got satelite in '97, but we didn't get Beast Wars(if we did, I never found it, save for the week that Cartoon Network showed the last five of Season 2. Great episodes!). And when Beast Machines started airing, Fox aired Beast Wars, and I finally got to see it all.

Around 9 or 10. Loved it then, love it now. I hadn't seen any G1 except for the movie, so BW was my proper intro to the whole Transformers universe. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
