There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

I strongly disagree with that statement in relation to Beast Wars. I think fans will go back to it. It has great original characters and it's link to G1 (continuity wise) cements it as a crucial segment of the Transformers saga. People do go back to it and the generations toys based on Best Wars are in very high demand and greatly anticipated.

yeah seriously. would the 2007 BW botcon set be the most sought after one if it didnt have a great following? give it enough time, and BW will be back in some shape or form.

I like G1 (first half of the movie was alright, and I didn't like Season 3 and 4 so much), BW, Bayverse (guilty pleasure, but it got me back into Transformers), and Aligned (Prime/WFC/FoC). Wasn't a fan of Unicron Trilogy, Car Robots, Animated, I've never given Rescue Bots a chance because it's just not my thing, and Beast Machines I was a little iffy over at first. I am probably going to give all of those another chance and try watching them all again to see if I can hop into it easier and find some enjoyment in them, my opinion changes and before I didn't give them enough of a chance. I'm sorta finicky over what I watch. Other than that I wouldn't say I like everything, but generally I like the premise of Transformers and that's good enough for me to get into it.

I'll watch most TF shows with delight, but I don't like the Bayverse. The 2007 movie wasn't the best, but I own it, and I enjoyed seeing it. It brought in some new fans, which was great, and it was a really cool idea to finally see a "live-action" portrayal of the series. I love the fact that it used so many great characters, and their designs were good, for the most part. However, anything beyond the first movie is what I find unbearable. I love the new comics, I can handle the new cartoons, and I adore the video games, but the movies are just too... Hollywood. I mean... They're just designed to entertain kids. But not in a mature, respectable way. It's like Call of Duty's multiplayer community in movie-form. "Bang bang! Kaboom! *insert genitalia joke here* Violence! Fart! Yeah!" That's just it. It's for kids with kid humor, and adults who still find kid humor funny. I prefer G1, Beast Wars, etc. because it, while being more kid-friendly, was more mature. It sounds weird, but I believe it.

Yes.Just because the rules have changed does not mean you got to hate it.Take this for example. Megatron g1 Imagebecame a gun that could do nothing other than become a hand held weapon for his cons but Tfp megatron(unicron)Image
becomes a jet capable of flying at warp speed. Not only that,he can defeat predaking and forge weapons from dark energon. He also can raise an undead army.
So now, which do you think is cooler,G1 megs or Tfp megs?

In tf4,grimlock looks like a realistic dinosaur whereas in g1 he does not really.

G1 grimlockImage
This statement below might be biased but
personally,I am in love with tfp.CGI is so realistic whereas in g1,the animation were just sketches(not that I hate G1).

So really, hatred for newer continuities is very dumb in my humble opinion.

In my experience (and ftr I'm an original Geewunner, saw G1 first run as a wee little one), most of the G1 stuff...to really get it you kind of had to grow up with it, and in the milieu of other cartoons of the time. Cartoons today are so much more sophisticated, even in terms of plot and worldbuilding, while G1 was basically, well, I mean, take Sixshot for example: he appears for just long enough to show all six modes--aka LOOK KIDS A NEW TOY YOU WANT. It was all about shilling toys.

Bayverse, well, my problems are with Bay, I'll be honest. I know you've probably heard the blah blah sexism blah blah racism blah blah stop the forward momentum of a movie to have a talk about statutory rape, but what I mean is, well, in the first Bay movie, the Decepticons were scary! They were mysterious, alien, and a real threat. And by the third one, Megatron's become a lice-ridden hobo, and Optimus Prime becomes the guy who kills the guy who offers peace. I'm all for moral complexity, yeah, but I do like my Optimus to....try to be a good guy?

Prime, well, we're adults now, so we have different standards than the cartoons we grew up with. And Prime was kind of....I'm going to go with 'uneven'. As a friend of mine once commented: it came up with great characters and neat ideas, but stuffed them in the lamest and most cliched situations that really didn't have any character development. It was a kiddy cartoon pretending that it wasn't, and it would have worked if it wasn't so Oh Em Gee Grimdark.

IDW...has been uneven since it began. No one is as bad as the Costaclasm (defenders of Mike Costa's era should go read that exit interview he gave about how arrogant TF fans are and how robots can't have feelings and the whole idea of robots having friends is stupid and then get back to me). There have been some great bright spots (the Chaos Theory arc, etc) but also some missteps that stand out in higher contrast like deeper valleys from the peaks (such as the disappointing Windblade series).

Me, I like them all, for different things. It's like a continuity for all moods and seasons!

CC....and then there's Kiss Players.
