I give up...

Postby Sportimus Prime » Wed Jul 18, 2007 6:00 pm

With the pain in the ass difficulty of getting a little $9.99 plastic toy known as Bumblebee these days, and the endless ebay scalpers of it, as well as the SDCC Rodimus Alternator, I have broken down and pre-ordered a Rodimus for myself. I WILL be going to the convention from Thursday through Saturday, but I have a baaaaaaad feeling that the bastard scalpers will be buying Rodimus by the handful before I even have a chance to get one. Rather than stress over getting him, I broke down and did the BBTS route. Seems like it would cost a lot more, but it's peace of mind.

I did the same thing, although I won't be going to the convention so it was a moot point.

I hate to suggest this...but if you do get one at SDCC you could ebay it and make your money back for your pre-order, I mean I would bet.

Give up? The thing has been out less than a week.

It's going to be EVERYWHERE. Just like Classics Mirage, Jetfire, Grimlock, .etc

you're going and you still bought one from bbts? they're not golden calfs man. i know several people that go and haven't had any problems buying the exclusives at the sdcc, because it is a 2 buy max (but i'm sure there's ways to get around that)..
and further more,
use some patience with the new bb. he will be out. some people have gotten him faster than others, but there will be a ton in just a matter of days most likely.

think about it: more money = more toys

That's actually the plan. The reason why I did this is because the last time I went, there was a Comic Con exclusive Keldor from Masters of the Universe line that I was looking for. I went all 4 days, and they were always out no matter how early I got there. Saw tons of him on ebay selling for more than $100.00 each, and he was only $19.99 at the convention. I just don't want a repeat of that.

Weapon: Sniper Rifle
I pre-ordered one as well, mostly because the con is nowhere near my Ohio home. That, and I'm an Alt. completist. You'll definitely get your money back if you can score one at the con, though. More power to you!

Oh god... the Keldor line. That was bad... I actually DID pick up one of those, but I waited for an hour beforehand, and they were being real jerks to the people in line. In the end, I'm not sure it was worth it.

I'd love to get Rodimus, but I remember waking up early to check for Nemesis Prime on HTS, and when I finally got his page to load, they were sold out. Man I hate missing Comic Con. -_-

From what I'm hearing, the cases are coming loading with Bumblebee, so he shouldn't be TOO hard to find when he makes it to your area. So patience is key. Also, if you've got any 24 hour Walmart Super Centers in your area, and can do so, check after midnight. We got lucky... had to stop to get rabbit food, and walked by the toy aisle, and there he was.

I'd offer to check back by the Walmart, but our car died on the way to work tonight, and I'm not sure what's wrong with it yet. Maybe if the damage isn't too bad, I can keep an eye out locally for you guys. Maybe if I pay it forward, I'll win a Pepsi Prime, or Shockwave at a garage sale for $5. =p

I flat out do not believe it.

If I wasn't at work, I'd check some of the sites that show case assortments for retailers and disprove this entirely.

Logically it doesn't make any sense for them to short ship Bumblebee. He gets the most screen time in the movie and they know he's going to be one of the more popular toys. Short shipping does nothing for Hasbro since they aren't making any money off the eBay sales. Come September he'll be clogging the shelves.

I know about the Target exclusive two-pack with 74 and battle-scarred (bleh) 08 BB. What's the second one?

YA but it will be battled damaged and some people don't want the battle damage version... Plus if they sell out at Target like they did with the Robo vision Prime they'll be gone!!!!! Target never restocks items if they buy 200,000 for the enitre chain that is it they do not get more...I work in retail and know a lot about the companies and how they order. Walmart and TRU are the opposite.. Great example is TRU and the Endor AT AT and Dagobah X wing they reordered more of them because they sold so well over Christmas...

I just picked up mine at Wal-Mart. They were packed two to a case. There were two Bumblebees, and one each of Swindle, Arcee, and Dreadwing. I believe I'm remembering that correctly.

That totally contradicts what was said before. In each case, there was supposed to be TWO '08 BB's and 1 of each of the others. The real reason (my theory anyway) is that the damn ebay scalpers are snapping them up, leaving real collectors and kids with nothing.

I believe this is the case. I spoke with someone at a nearby Target that was extremely helpful in getting my Robo-Vision. This store was in another town and for whatever reason they just never put their Robo-Visions out on the shelves. That's the only reason I was able to get mine.

Anyway, I asked him if they'd be getting more in case any friends needed them. He checked and said they would not, that was the only shipment (of five figures) that they were to get.
