I agree... after you get one, you start getting inspirations for the next one & can't wait to get that done... then the next one...
My fiancee stopped me after #3.
hellkitty wrote:Scabbing actually isn't very good. Nor is pain.
Are you using an antibiotic ointment on it? (Isn't bacitracin what they tell you to use? It's been a while and I forget). When I had the ones on my chest done, I put ointment on, then a folded kleenex (to keep the stuff off my bra) and changed that every few hours. They never got dry, never scabbed or peeled, and they never hurt. You might have managed to get an infection, which is very very bad. Considering that a tattoo needle is violating one of your major infection barriers (your skin) a couple of THOUSAND times, you have to be careful. Not just for your tat, but for your health.
It's been several days--you should NOT be feeling any pain beyond like a mild sunburn by this point. If you are, please see a doctor. And if it starts to smell bad, like necrosis, GO TO THE ER.
Edit: Oh, yeah, and if you see red streaks under your skin, go to the ER at light speed. That's blood poisoning and can be fatal. And yes, you can get it from a bad ink.
HK, the place you went to didn't tell you this? Are they licensed?

I can't answer for ML, but I have matching tattoos on my chest, and I'm a girl, so maybe, just possibly, my opinion's valid. Probably not, though. I hope you don't mind another female's perspective, too.
hellkitty wrote: Only the very first tattoo I got when I was young and stupid is visible when I'm dressed. Unfortunately, the professional world in which I work still frowns upon ink, especially for women. I had the dean of the school once pull me aside and talk badly about one of my coworkers who had a visible tattoo. (He actually tried to deny her promotion because she didn't 'present a professional appearance'.) So, discretion is kinda key.
hellkitty wrote:The other part is, I got my tattoos for *me*. That means nobody has to see them. They're not FOR other people, they're for me. The ones I've gotten after my first were all sort of rituals: I had a part of my body I was having problems with, and my tattoo marked a way of trying to make that better, a sort of 'here, now at least you have something pretty'.
hellkitty wrote:So I have a pretty large one on the base of my spine, because I have a broken back. I've spent years of my life hating having a big chest (guys used to moo at me in high school, to this date I have never been able to find a button down shirt that fits my shoulders but doesn't have a huge *gap* pull across the bosoms), so their matching inks were my way of making them a little less 'giant bladders of fat stapled to my chest to guarantee no one will ever take me seriously no matter how much doorkicking I do here' and more 'oooooh, pretty!'.
hellkitty wrote:As long as I'm wearing even a bra or bikini top, mine are concealed, so they don't draw any extra attention. (Not that Old 'N' Pasty here has ever worn a bikini). My coworker, the one the dean was talking about, has the korean word for 'woman' right in her cleavage. That's highly visible, especially with her clothes, and it does draw the eye (trust me, I willingly look into NO WOMAN's Laurentian Abyss), but I'm actually pretty awed that she's got enough body confidence that it doesn't bother her. If she's willing to pay the price of possibly losing promotion or tenure (we'll find out this year) because she doesn't fit The Industry's image, that's more power to her. Or the few male students who have taken that as an invitation to make nasty comments or talk about her on RMP or have solicited sex because they think tattoos mean a girl is easy. It's not a risk I would take, but I'm old and I need job security.
HK, dogs in France go 'ouaf ouaf'.

What girl doesn't want the positive side of that attention? I admit, even *I* occasionally wish some guy would just jawdrop when I walked by. But there's a negative side to that attention, and unfortunately, when most girls really get that message, it's too late. Their nasty looks at you looking at their chichis THEY think is a lesson to you on 'respect'. They think they're wielding power--look, but don't touch,...but don't look like *THAT*, that's scary!
HK, that's why I like robots: they don't stare at my rack.

I can't answer for ML420 either, but I'm female and in my case I got a tat on my chest because it's "right above my heart". Mine is an Autobot insignia accompanied by a flame, so I wanted it to look like the flames of passion coming from my heart. I like feeling a heartbeat under the insignia I adore.
Mykltron wrote:MegatronsLady, if that tattoo is 1 inch by 2 inches then you must be very petite. It seems to be taking up most of your breast. I'd say it looks at least twice that size.
Very nice art though.

How about covering your entire back?
Elita One wrote:Still living at home so gettin a tat is not a option. My mum would go crazy if I did. 'It makes you trashy" and all the other crap excuses. I read about white ink tats maybe I could get away with one of those. I'll have my Autobot symbol tat one day.
Tyrannotaur wrote:That's really awesome actually.
I've been toying with the idea of getting one. My Sister has two, a heart on her ankle and a skull on her shoulder blade.
I was thinking of getting the Triforce from Zelda on one bicep and either the Decipticon or Autobot Symbol on my other. I'll probably wait till I work out more and have actual defined muscles because I am afraid it will stretch out or get distorted otherwise.
I also don't know which faction to get, I could also get Predacon or Maximal.. I have to think about it more.
For now I'll just stick to my Autobot Skin on my 360 and DS and the Decipticon sticker on my Hyundai.
El Duque wrote:Cool tat, I plan on getting a Autobot faction symbol at some point. I want it to look like the skin has been torn back and you can see the symbol hiding underneath along with some other bio-mech elements, kind of like a pretender.
