...atleast make it resemble The Transformers:

I'm not saying I like the video I posted here either, it varies from G1, ie-MP OP, Bulky Jetfire, etc., but atleast I can make out that they are Transformers. I specifally was talking about design.

I don't like my Robots w/ fangs, claws or toes, hence why I never liked beast wars. That is MY opinion, not a criticism.

I like my Robots to look like....ER....ROBOTS!!

I wish all the G1 loyalists would sit back and shut up.

These characters would NEVER translate well into a movie.

Look at them, they are blocky and cartoony and reminiscient of designs from the 80's. I can't see those characters in a live action film.

Change was necessary, I just can't believe people would suggest putting those blocky designs in the film.

Wow. That video looked like a cartoon. A very well done cartoon but not like anything that could be live action.

Once again I say you haters out there should close your eyes, stick your fingers in your ears and hum the Gobots theme really loud for the next few months.

Someone did a lot of work to make those, and they look pretty good. I wish I could do that for fun.

But I'm glad they didnt try and remake g1, or any other series. I have no problems with them creating a new continuity of Transformers, and pulling elements from all of the cartoons that have been created ove the past 20+ years.

Makes it a special sort of thing for kids who grew up on beast wars, or RID or any of that other stuff, and a few cool things from G1 for us olde kids too.

man I forgot how sweet those transformations were, cause you can see where all the parts go

I thought we were done with this too... I wish all the people who like X-treme bayformer-morphers, monkeybots, junkpiles, bots who don't have mouths when they should and have mouths when they shouldn't, would stop bagging for no reason everytime someone who likes old school robots posts something.

He didn't even ask a question or make a general derogatory comment about the Movie he he just posted a movie of the old bots and said he personally didn't like robots with claws and fangs.

and they are OUR (as in everyones) bots cause we paid for all of them.

You didnt pay for shite, you dont own the rights to the designs, the cartoon, the toys or anything so they belong to NONE of us.

And none of the old designs would have worked on the big screen, at least not in live action. For one, they wouldnt look very manacing or cool, and too people would find it very unbeleivable.

As far these 3D transformers transforming and all the parts fitting together, i see no such thing. I see bending metal and size shifting, which is all well and good for an 80's cartoon but that sorta stuff just would not, and will not, work in a live action summer blockbuster action movie, no matter how much we might want it to so get over already and shut up.

Lot of shut ups. I thought we were over this constant barrage of rudeness against people who have different opinions. I thought wrong. And amazingly, it's the same people telling others to shut up that troll around looking for people to harass and bully. Wow. :P

Man, some people just dont undertand the concept of Movie Adaptations. They just cant realize that the movie has to be for both fans and the general audience, otherwise it would end up as another theatrical disaster like the 86 movie

I like that video, and if this were for a new version of the G1 series, I'd be amped to see all that. But I seriously don't think those would translate well into a live action environment...and I'm pretty sure that he posted this to make a statement about the movie designs and how he didn't like them. If that's not what it was about, then I'm thinking he posted in the wrong thread. However, while I like the video, I think that it really just wouldn't work in a live action "realistic" setting.

I agree with the statements made prior to my post. The designs of the G1 Transformers just won't translate well into a live action movie. Though honestly, these new movie designs kind of look like my six year old cousin's Bionicle toys (Though my opinion may change throughout the next 37 days.)

Also, you have to keep in mind that not all people are/were Transformers fans, and the movie has to appeal to that audience as well to make any money.

:-? :-? Hmmmmmm, I doubt he was doing this to try to equal movie standards of CGI.
:-? :-? :-? Can I assume you've never modeled or animated anything in any 3D package? If so, you and a few others would not be so quick to trash this if you understood the time and dedication it takes to any art work in cg.
For those that don't know, what ever cg effect you see in any movie, ESPECIALLY A CERTAIN FILM COMIN' IN JULY WE'VE BEEN KEEPIN AN EYE ON, for modeling, texturing, lighting, animating, and finally compositing(putting a model into a scene and tweeking textures and lighting to make it match whatever live footage) takes teams of people FOR EACH PROCESS, along with about DOZENS of high-powered PCs or workstations rendering, what, weeks maybe.

well, first off I'll apologize if I am one of the people previously mentioned that "bullies" people since l I was trying to defend someone who posted a rather cool movie of the old bots albeit with a sly comment against the movie...but then got like 6 negative comments.

And some people do think that the old forms, updated, would look good in a real movie, because its not like anyone actually keeps track of where all the parts go when they transform. But the new transformation are fine. I like the old ones more, but whatever, I don't make the movie. I am not here to start an argument.

I don't own rights, but the fan community (as in anyone who likes TF) controls the direction of the toy line. I do own "shite": the hundreds of dollars I've spent on TFs is my vote in which way I want the toy line to go. If people don't like the movie, they'll change the design. People like the movie, they'll get more of the same style. Its whatever the public wants.

George Lucas "owns" Star Wars, but I wonder who really made the decision to get jar-jar binks out of the last two movies as much as possible....

This isn't some artist making things to express themselves and doesn't care about the financial results. These are items designed so they have fans. They are designed for us, and we pay for them by buying them. The only reason I replied was because I think the fans do own the designs in some ways, because thats who they're made for, and thats who pays for them, and thats who determines the direction of the line in the long run. The shift to the new design is for a new generation of kids that grew up watching more anime and has seen more complicated machines; thats who determines the designs, not some guy sitting in a room picking ideas out of thin air.

Again, you have NO CONTROL over what the owners of these toys and characters do to them.

Its simple business, and trying to appeal to a younger generation. We arent the only people out there who like TF's ya know, theres a whole new generation of kids for them to appeal to now.

Not to mention that it is 2007, and like every other incarnation of the transformers (generation 2, beast wars, the abysmal cybertron and energon series and armada) things change, some for better, some for worse. This is no exception.

So again, you have zero control over what the toy makers create, or how they change their designs. You paid for your products, and thats it. Hasbro, takara and dreamworks owe you nothing in return.

To think that is the stuff of looney-bin quality mentality.
