Because they're telling the truth. Besides, the laptop would've been destroyed. Only once have I seen a laptop survive lightning and it wasn't a direct strike. It fried the built in modem. It remained working for a little while, then finally died.

Lightning + laptop + human = no.

I'm sorry. I don't see it being a lightning strike. A surge perhaps, or something failed in the adapter brick, I dunno, I'm not an electrician or an engineer, but I know you'd be hurt. Plus the laptop would be fried.

The only thing I can think of is static discharge. Lightning is a static discharge and if you're too close to it, you can feel the static field. This is why the hairs will stand up on someone's neck just before they're about to be hit. You might've just had a static shock and nothing else.

I dunno. All I know is, you'd be injured and lappy be dead. Neither happened, so count your blessings.

I'll believe something crazy happened to him. But if he and his computer are both still functional, lightning it was not.

I will put forth the theory that it was the internet itself trying to punch him in the face.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't lightning. Are your hands charred smoking stumps? Because if so, it's impressive you're able to type so well. Maybe that darn "Ball Lightning" huh? It's a phenomenon where lightning turns into a ball and flies around.

Also, using your laptop in a lightning storm is about as safe as walking around in Plated steel armor.

Personally, i'm calling B.S. and think this is just another one of Sly's attempts for attention. Just like his Goverment is out to kill him, Owls are going to take over the world, etc. Actually, now that i think about it, it proabbaly did happen. Since he believes the Goverment is out to kill him, he was probabaly covered in tin foil to block the radio waves that they were no doubt attempting to transmit into his brain. :HEADHURTS:
