Um...when you said you saw the commercial, did you mean did you see it on a TV station, or on Youtube?

Ah, RID, the show that started the downward spiral of the TF cartoon into an unapologetic manga inspired snooze fest. I'll pass on this one, the only good that came was the cool Optimus toy.

"anime is an abbreviation of animation."
So... you don't like cartoons? :?

But doesn't it though? Everything on fox kids anymore is Yu ghi oh or dragonballs, or Juju bee, or something dealing with monsters, cards, kids with monsters, or kids with cards. I think there may have been 1 or 2 like that when I was a kid.

I was just messin' with ya. ;)

I quite liked RID. Last series I did enjoy, actually. It's not the animation style that bothered me in the Unicron Trilogy, so much as the focus on humans. Down with squishies.

Yes and no.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime
Anime is an abbreviation of the word "animation". Outside Japan, the term most popularly refers to animation originating in Japan. To the West, not all animation is considered anime; anime is considered a subset of animation.

Unless someone clearly defines anime in their post as just animation you can rest assured they are talking about the bug eyed subset as referred to in that Wiki article.

Dude, post above. I know. I was just messing about.

Also: I'd far rather have an anime style than the bog standard Cartoon Network style they're using for TF Animated. :(

Well that seems like saying you don't like movies because they are all like Tellitubbies. I mean if you don't like the kids stuff then there is certainly no need to watch it, there is plenty of more mature stuff there to enjoy. Jin-Roh, Grave of Fireflies, and Ghost in the Shell leap to mind. I mean you can certainly dislike anime, but if your only experience with it is those series you mentioned then I am afraid that you didn't get a very good sampler. Try some of the adult stuff and you might find you enjoy it.

I think the main complaint is that the style of animation is being more centered on the Japanese art style. While I like it to a point with regards to robots and character designs I tend to prefer the western style of influence. On the other hand, Transformers was drawn in Japan and the style of the 80s was very close to what they drew in the late 70s with Gundam and several other series. So really the more correct complaint about the sytle would be...

"I don't like the more modern look of animation coming from Japan as the story telling and focus seems far to simplistic in that the story itself and character development is bogged down by the whole "Collect this card" or "Capture this monster" episodes that do nothing more then premote a certain toy. I would rather it be worked into the script and for the animation to have a more human approach then a cartoonish approach to the style of drawing."

Is that basically what you're trying to say Autobot Vanquisher?
